Why do people think these interchangeable birthstones are bi

Seriously, if it was really a birthsign you couldn't change it. That's like changing when you're born.

Because they were in Oblivion. Birthsigns are starsigns and the Doomstones change what sarsigns you gain powers from.

Well in another hvlr stated that they worked just like the doomstones in Obliv Cyrodiil.
So basically the character is calling apon the stars to grant him/her the power the posses. Makes sense, works for me.

There's a difference between starsigns and birthsigns. Sure, you could "steer your stars in the direction of" a birthsign, but it didn't actually change your character's birthsign.

The birthsign tells what starsign your character was born under.

Probably because I'm stupid either that or it was described in a way that wasn't very clear.

Considering that others are confused by it as well I would say the later....

Although I do understand now that it has been clarified.

All it is is changing your horoscope. Others have their lives guided by the Zodiac Sign they were born under, but the Dhovakin is so special he can change his stars.

Why would they grant anything, to one not born under their sign?

Was a new topic really neccesary. This was already clarified in the first two posts in the "Clarification of birthsigns" topic along with the fact that a lot of the PS mags new info is composed of very questionable wording.

Birthsigns, by definition, shouldn't be changeable. With that said, I'm assuming that the magazine characterized it incorrectly and that they won't be called "birthsigns" in the actual game.

Why do people insist to ignore the very title of birth-signs, it′s 'birth-sign' the very first word in it implies it is tied to your birth. I have a birthday, a birth year, a zodiac sign, and I can′t change any of those. I can′t just suddenly decide "aaahhh I think I′m gonna be born on the 7th of July rather than the 2nd of January, yeah, me being born on the 2nd of January just never happened, so scrap that".

If Bethesda wants people to be happy with that they need to find a way to make the stars that make up birth-signs disappear and then just stick to calling the stones "Doomstones" or "Runestones" or "Powerstones" or whatever else they like, just not "Birth-stones" that makes no sense at all. As for the stars disappearing, isn′t it true that the 'stars' in the Sky are actually planes of Oblivion and that daylight is actually just a very large plane that is very close to Nirn ? So maybe something has been closing up all of those planes except the one that lights up the day sky.

But even that is a little far-fetched...

I still think that the best way to deal with this is to be allowed to decide upon your Birth-sign later on (like you do have it but just announce it late) and that you can never change it from that time on. That way it′s just a little silly but not nearly as much as most other ways to deal with it.

It probably means the Doomstones in Oblivion are now where the Birthsigns are, meaning you go out into the wild and find the Mage Birthsign you might get an increase in magicka. That's my theory any way as to how the Doomstones will work.

PSM was wrong. They basically just confirmed Doomstones, or atleast birth stones. They are not a replacement for birth signs. It makes me wonder if the writer/editor for the mag even played Oblivion.
