So, I've been watching all of the game play footage, getting stupid excited for the game. I have noticed that there is an utter lack of any PS4 game play footage. Anyone know why that is, or if maybe there is some that I missed?

I didn't figure there would be any significant differences. I just didn't know why they wouldn't show any.
Eh, that usually happens with multiplatform games, I wouldn't worry about it.
Well, we don't actually know what the footage they showed for e3 was off of. They used some of the exact same footage for both e3 and xbox shows and it was entirely footage.. no live gameplay demo going on. I'm thinking all we've seen so far is off of pc.
As long as it run like the XB1 version I don't care what footage they use for marketing.
I felt the same way about Skyrim... just saying
Just playing a bit of Devil's Advocate here. As much as I'm sure people at Bethesda were happy to hear about the new architecture for the PS4, the fact remains that they still have a bad track record with porting stuff to Sony. I'm optimistic, but it's a reserved optimism.
I heard Skyrim had a lot of issues on the PS3, but that was the PS3. I wouldn't know though. I only had it on the 360 and then on my PC.
Yeah the PS3 (I know everyone hate what I have to say now, still it's a technical fact) was the weakest hardware plattform for Skyrim.
This isn't the case anymore with the actual generation of consoles. Now the PS4 is the stronger one compare to the XBO.
You know I was going to post something like that 20 mins ago but,now you done it let the console wars begin.
From my understanding, Sony is infamous for being a pain to work with.
Can't say I'm 100% accurate on this, but someone once told me that the PS3 was a major pain to code for. The PS4 seems different in that respect, at least thus far. Every game I own for it runs really smooth with no issue. i.e. Destiny, Witcher 3, Dragon Age: Inquistion, Batman Arkham Knight, etc. I'm sure Fallout 4 will be no different.
Was the case for the PS3 (strange RAM configuration and access which ended up in not much useable RAM, Cell processor which is great in theory but sadly only in theory).
The PS4 uses very standard X86 architecture. So this troubles are sorted out galdly.
The PS3 used an entirely different CPU and memory architecture than the PS4. The Cell Processor and the way memory was handled on that platform was not conducive to either Skyrim or Fallout New Vegas. In fact, in my opinion, those games should have never been released on that platform. Anyway, now the PS4 and XB1 are essentially X86 PCs under the hood so all the platforms are the same really, PC, XBOX1 and PS4.
The issues had nothing to do with the actuall hardware being "stronger" or "weaker" than the other. It was an issue of difficulty to develop and port code to the PS3 hardware (for a Dev house that was exclusively PC centric for years). I would also say that Bethesda put a questionable amount of effort into correcting any shortcomings that arose from those difficulties (but they were not the only developer potentially guilty of treating the PS3 like the red-headed step child console).
On the plus side, from the developer comments I have seen, the new Sony platform does not have those types of "difficulties", but there certainly could be performance differences (and the PS4 is technically a bit more powerful than the Xbox One).
My first thought on seeing this post was, "what gameplay footage?"
Bethesda and Microsoft have a close relationship that goes back to Morrowind. I think they have sort of a semi-exclusive deal in that they use the Xbox One for marketing and such, but it's still being released on PC and PS4.
Also I like the fact that the nickname for the Xbox auto corrects to Xbox One >_>
I'm used to typing it that way even though I don't really have a stake in the whole console war thing
I disagree here. The reason of the of difficulties to develop and port code to the PS3 hardware are the hardware limitations. How many real (not graphic) RAM has a PS3 game available at runtime compared to the old XBOX? There is the anwer for most of Bethesda's (and others too) problems on this plattform.
I don't get in the discussion of the different processor architecture. Because yes here is the point where a ton of optimisations could be made (but at a very high cost for specialised programmers).
There is also a lack of XBox One footage. What we've seen so far is with high probability the PC version played with a XBox controller.
Why would they do that you may ask. Well, a PC is more powerfull than a console which results in a much smoother video and better graphics.
It makes sense from a marketing perspective. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see. Eventually I'll end up buying it on Steam, but that will be when it's the GOY edition with all DLCs included and super cheap for Holiday or Summer sale.
