Why I quit playing (Devs please fix with upcoming DLC)

Post » Mon Jan 25, 2016 4:26 am

I found myself bored today and browsed through my steamlibrary and saw Fallout 4 and realized I stoped playing it, haven't played for weeks and felt no urge to take it up again. Why, I wondered. It's a good game with interesting story that I havent finished yet. I found out the following:

1. Loot, weapons do not scale with level. At level 20something I had the best sniperrifle with the best mods. I also had a really nice shotgun for those days I just want to blow stuff up close range. Had the best armour... only think left to look for is junk for my settlement but I already built all the interesting stuff so I have nothing new to look forward too. Only thing left worth finding is ammo which gets old really fast and after i put a few points in luck I have plenty of ammo anyway.

2. Enemies, not so much variety. Except for the first deathclaw I never had a "boss" feeling. Sure there are some legendarys that makes you use some more ammo but nothing that requires special tactics... well except for glowing ones until you get strong enough to just destroy them.

3. Defending settlements. So I gave my guys plenty of armor and weapons and built a nice base with only one entry point. I put up loads of turrets but still if it gets attacked and im not there they will lose. What is the point of building anything? Its enough to skip all the building and just go there with my sniperrifle and kill em all when they gets attacked.

4. More fun perks wanted!

5. MULTIPLAYER WANTED!!! Yeah I get it, its hard to feel like the hero of heroes if there is more than one player in the game since all players want to feel they are "the one" but you get tons of more hours from a game if you can play with your friends.

I'm really sad, because I really think it's a great game. The graphics, the atmosphere, the worldbuilding and the gameplay (the rework of battlesystem and FPS feel is just pure awesomeness!).

Please add some legendary mods (loot) for the weaponds to give them new properties or something. Also different tiers of rifles that scale damageoutput. Its boring to find your last weapon at level 20 when you are level 50..

I'm really looking forward to DLCs and I hope they will fix this somehow because I love the game and I would like to keep playing but as it is now I feel just meh :(

Sounds like you want Borderlands. In which case, go play Borderlands.

I can relate with some of your points, I trully do, but [censored] multiplayer. Leave that the [censored] away from Bethesda games.

Also, I really doubt you have all the best mods available for your weapons at level 20-something. But I agree with your settlement and ennemies complaint.

Greg Y: No I do not want Borderlands, if I wanted Borderlands I would already be playing Borderlands.

Arverne: Well, multiplayer would ofcourse be optional but I would love to be able to do some raiding with my friend (Multiplayer as Co-op that is. Maybe something like you play your singleplayer game and when you want coop you both meets in a new instance with more enemies and then when either of you log you gets ported back to your singleplayer instance... I dont mean multiplayer as in 50 players at the same time CTF but the option to play with 1 friend would be nice. OBS IMHO.

My concern about adding multiplayer is, that it probably requires restricting modability. Otherwise mods would be used for cheating, And the ability to mod the game is one of the main reason I like the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series.

I suppose that would depend on how you went about setting up multiplayer. A long time ago, my wife and I played mostly the same games. Anyway, she wanted to play this one particular game with just me. I don't remember for certain, but I think it was Diablo, and what I did was network our two computers directly (bypassing the router) and the game had peer to peer setup option. It was kinda fun for a while, but at the same time it nearly caused us a divorce... Very different playing styles and speeds, you see. :)

Plays dozens/hundreds hours...

Now bored.

I would asked what level of content is reasonable for your $60?

By most yardsticks, it's tons of content, but eventually it will run out (excl. dlc)

I played Rise of the Tomb Raider a month back...

(clearing my palate for another FO4 playthrough)

And that was 36 hours to 100%: done.

And 450 hours in, I don't play as hungrily as I did, but I'm still working on my completionist playthrough, and enjoying it...

They won't add multiplayer to this game, that's a given.

Just from a technical standpoint, multiplayer has to be coded tin during early game development, long, long before release. You can't add it in just as a add on, it has to be done before the game is even out of the engine coding stages.

It would also ruin the game by taking time and resources away from better DLC that the majority wants instead of what a vocal minority want.

They have your money they dont care what you do :) on a serious note this is fallout not borderlands or sonething else if your bored of playing it move on to something else no need to turn a good game into something its not with your multiplayer idea. bethesda makes single player games there are a smorgasbord of multiplayer games out there try your hand at some of them :)

Multiplayer will also mess up a lot of other stuff like quests, also that happens then you shoot up stuff. http://i.imgur.com/LDCc5ug.pngbowling Fallout style, game would need to synchronize stuff like this between clients.

Having two players in different cells would be an separate issue but less of an problem than synchronization.

People need to get over having Multiplayer in every game...ever! There are plenty of multiplayer games out there and all it does is hurt the single-player experience by giving devs. less of a focus and time.

Just like the person up there, the closest thing you need is Borderlands.

But even in Borderlands, there's level cap and the higher you are, the more dependent you are towards multiplayer. Unless you have found your so-called 'best' skill set up, weapons, shield, and class-mod, which in the end, I think you'll make another "I'm Bored" thread in Borderlands' forums.

And I support no multiplayer for Fallout and I hope to Todd to never ever make a separate Fallout Online and then focusing themselves to it alone and forget their offline games for Todd knows how long.

My tips to you now is: remove your 'best' equipment. I understand in this game, they can make you a walking hell. And guess what I do? I limit my choice to no be one.

I'm not gonna argue about settlement defense, though. I like the concept of random objective pop-ups. But the design is flawed and their survivability should be calculated by how much Defense point we have.

Multi-player. NO! End of mods if multiplayer ever comes in. Maybe Bethesda will do a Fallout Online in the future like they did with Elder Scrolls but I doubt it, I can't see that the online Elder Scrolls was a success. I played it for a while once they got rid of subscription but it wasn't anything like as good as Skyrim or Oblivion. But no way should they bring in Multiplayer to Fallout 4. No way!

How would VATS work in MP anyway? You'd have to completely remove it and come up with something else. Unless people don't mind waiting for one player to finish VATS.
