Why do settlements self destruct?

Post » Mon Jan 11, 2016 7:25 pm

You're kinda coming out of the blue on this one for me, but maybe I can help. Are we talking about the castle? I had difficulty getting the tower going to because there was a simple basic thing I didn't understand. You have to

Spoiler
build a generator for the tower and connect it.

Hope that helps.

I got a notification of an attack on 'the slog', and turned up to three waves of attackers. The thing was, the map showed the slog with '13' settlers (the originals, plus whatever turned up since I built the beacon...I hadn't been back since)...when I arrived though, the place had a veritable army of 30 settlers.

I have no idea why, and I only finished the MQ roughly a week (game time) earlier. Needless to say, every piece of floor space now has a sleeping bag, and the pond is stuffed with water pumps.

The place has gone from country club to refugee camp.

If you want that junk back, sure, go get it. It's not a bug though. Your workshop is public property as are all containers. If you want to keep something private, put it in a safe or store it at Home Plate. Otherwise, what are you complaining about? I caught Strong with my 4 shot missile launcher yesterday at Hangman's laying waste to his brethren as they attacked and I know it was in the workshop. I took it back from him though. Since he lives with Cait, I was afraid he'd use it on her (not that she wouldn't deserve it). I gave him one of my legendary boards instead. That should keep him happy for a bit.

i've had settlers jump in my power armour when under attack if I leave the fusion cores in them. They, like Strong, will give them up when asked.

You need NASA levels of character to listen to that radio station for any length of time and not break!

I'm sure they use this as a method to gain intelligence from POW's

Happened to me at sanctuary. Luckily you can ignore any damage as it will self repair in a few days on its own. The settlers mentioned getting hit pretty hard by mutants. Just about as weird as calling rad scorpions raiders.

Yes - it is a tad boring. But not only that - they give you no warning if a settlement is attacked!!!

When (in my first game, which I aborted to a new start) I first had the radio, I switched it on. But only until they said 'all is well in the Commonwealth' and at the same time a settlement attack message popped up. This radio is useless. And a bit later I was called to the Castle by radio for a quest - we want a new settlement, please go and ask them what we can do to help. Now this is a real emergency...

Ignore the radio - it will not help. It would be nice to have the radio as an accomplishment for better emergency reporting, that would be fine and logical. But a radio which will give out nonsensical quests at random and do nothing in emergencies is just bothering. The radio is not implemented well.
