Why is Skyrim so dumbed down?

Is it to save development costs/make more profit?
Is it to...

Actually, that's the only logical explanation.

What a boring game.

Applying to more people through simplification, an unfortunate side effect of wanting more money, Before Skyrim, TES games were more niche then mainstream.

They want to simplify to bring in larger crowds.

I enjoy the game very much, but I hate things that was cut from it. I could list them but I've done that a lot tonight.

Before Oblivion.
Many would argue the real response is: before Morrowind.
Of course, back then, all gaming was more of a niche hobby.

Yeah, it is the most dumbed down ES ever, but that's what happens when Beth bends over backwards to appeal to the casuals and unreceptive.

Pretty much.

And seriously people, go play Daggerfall, you can download it for free from Bethesda and tell me it's so much more complex. I'll laugh at you.

As Bethesda have said themselves on numerous occasions - accessibility.

Even though TES is supposed to be an open-world RPG series, the average gamer doesn't enjoy RPGs. 8 simple attributes = confusing "spreadsheet" to them. The average gamer also doesn't like open-world games. Feeling lost in a strange world, having to explore and discover things for yourself? Nope. Too tedious.

Yes and its a shame.

Why can't the casual players play something more in depth.

This forum is seriously full of spastics...

It's not dumbed down u retards, It's the same as any other RPG out there... The simple fact of the matter is, you've already DONE all the [censored] in the past, so it's easier the second time around... Making things easier through quest tracking etc. is your CHOICE. If you don't want to track quests etc. DON'T. If you want the NPC's to be more challenging, TURN THE DIFFICULTY UP!

Because they're abominations that should be purged from the gaming community.

Casuals do NOT play RPGs, I have to keep saying this. Yeesh.

It's also not dumbed down, they removed some things and you can argue that's bad but it's in no way dumbed down.

So sick of this.

Why is Skyrim so dumbed down?

In order to keep people coming to this forum and creating topics asking that question.

Now it might not be clear why yet, but trust me, the Illuminati know what they are doing and they want as many of these topics as possible.

Or, why is Beth trying to cater to them in the first place? They obviously don't care about ES, or RPGs for that matter, otherwise they'd have already been fans of the games.I know plenty of people that didnt like previous ES games, bought Skyrim on the hype and PR, and still don't like it. Not because they made it simpler, or anything, its just because they don't like RPGs at all. And there's nothing wrong with that, but they shouldn't take the last of its kind (ES series), and turn it into every other more linear RPG, or even action games, just to get a bigger portion of the casual and 'next best thing' market. That's not where the long term money is at. Although I feel every succeeding ES will sell more than the previous for the simple fact of having a bigger overall market and more gamers er age bracket than ever before.
