...while you enjoy yourself slashing, burning and talking your way out of your enemies.

That totally had me picture the PC being swallowed whole by a dragon, only to use the force push dragon shout to 'talk his way out... violently'. ^_^

As to the actual topic though, meh. Don't bother trying to convince him of anything in my opinion, perhaps tell him he's being a fool for judging two games that there is so very little known about, not to mention their obvious genre differences. I'll get both games no doubt and probably will end up playing Battlefield more in the long run with online stuff, I know full well I'll enjoy Skyrim more however, just won't last me as long.

Edit: Removed partly censored 'swear' word. :b

In terms of shooting people through a sniper scope from 500 yards away, yeah, Skyrim will svck. Battlefield 3 will be a great game. Skyrim will have dragons though.

Your friend sounds like a 13 year old.

He's 27.

They are both going to be great games. Skyrim will be the best game of 2011 and Battlefield 3 will be best Online game of 2011. Don't be bothered by what weak minded shooter only players say about rpgs, they aren't going to change. Like what was said by others you can't compare Skyrim to Battlefield they are both completely different genres.

It's all a matter of personal preference. Skyrim and Battlefield 3 are such drastically different games that I fail to see how any comparison could be made to begin with. This is like saying The Matrix is a better movie than Goodfellas. Sure, they're both movies, but that's where the similarities end.

Ok, if you really want to convince him do as follows:
Call him while you′re having an epic dragon battle...let him drool for a while....and when he starts begging to play too...tell him to get his own Skyrim

Omg... ok:

1. We barely even know anything about either game. MUCH too little to compare the two.
2. The games are two ENTIRELY different genre's of game, so that they cannot be compared.
3. Really? Play BF3 for your FPS needs, and Skyrim for your fantasy RPG needs...

very subjective.
I have never played Battlefield 3, but I understand the genre.
I would guess that Skyrim will offer more choice on what your character can be and what you can do, which also lends to longer and more diverse gameplay.

This makes his oppinion unimportant in my oppinion. I'd say you should ignore him if he's childish enough to judge a game that harshly without ever having played it or any game from the same series.

This. Tell him that. Case closed.

What does your frined mean with Better? there are many many ways of using better when comparing two things.

Does he mean:
The graphics?
The feeling of the game?
The fun-factor when playing it?
The more same stuff as every other game kind of better?
The variety and freedom of doing anything you want whenever you want?

Skyrim wins on all the relevant ones, feeling cannot yet be measured, fun-factor is individual and the more same stuff goes to the winner BF3, congrats just another shooter game. I just saw the trailer of it and it basically looked like a remix of all the past shooter games I've played, but hey if he likes no variety then BF3 is just for him.

But you can't really compare the games, it's like comparing GT5 and little big planet 2, they can't be compared!
You do know the trailer shows the single player of BF3? And have you actually played the older Battlefields? (Not Bad Company 1 or 2) The devs say BF3 will be a lot like those games, and if what they say is true, it will not be "just another shooter game". There's actually lots of variety in those games too, with all the different vehicles, classes etc and you could also play them tactically, unlike CoD and other newer crap FPS games. Can you name a shooter game besides Battlefield 3 that has vehicles, 64 player multiplayer and destructible environments? I'm not saying BF3 and Skyrim should be compared, since they are very different beasts and both will be some of the best games this year. I just had to correct some misconceptions. =)

in a technical view battlefield 3 is superior, it truly looks like a next gen game.
not that skyrim isn't technically impressive, battlefield 3 is just more so.

I know that Battlefield 3 and Skyrim are very different games, but my friend says that "Skyrim svcks compared to Battlefield 3". He never played any Elder Scolls game before. Please convince him that he is wrong.

You'll just have to wait for him to grow up.

You can't compare them. Too different. Your friend sounds like one of those typical FPS gamers that doesn't open himself up to anything other then that genre.

Let me guess he's also in firm belief that Graphics are more important then Gameplay?

It is a better game. Stop arguing with him, he's right.

:poke:

But really, battlefield 3 has some of the best technology behind it seen in YEARS. It is going to be a very, very good game. Let your friend have his own opinion.
