Why Skyrim will be a better game that Battlefield 3

Post » Tue Nov 30, 2010 8:50 pm

I know that Battlefield 3 and Skyrim are very different games, but my friend says that "Skyrim svcks compared to Battlefield 3". He never played any Elder Scolls game before. Please convince him that he is wrong.

Is this a joke thread?

LOL ...

Is better Icecream or a good roast with potatoes?

Seriously they can't be compared , they are both games I personally will get both of them , if you mean graphically probably battlefield 3 is better if you mean Storyline , density , interactivity and freeroaming then Skyrim is better...

If you mean "Is this thread a joke" then yes.

This is a matter of opinion. You CAN say one game is better than another, because its your opinion. I like Ice cream more than roast potatoes. See?

Facepalm.

They will both be awesome games. You can not compare two totally different games like that.

Let me guess, your friend is a kid?

Tell your friend that he is quite stupid if he compares Battlefield with The Elder Scrolls - they're completely different games!

What's next? "What's better, Dawn of War or Super Mario Galaxy?" "Mass Effect or GTA?"
What are you going to compare? The graphics? The story? The gameplay? The length?

You cannot simply take two completely different things and compare them. It's like comparing blue with red. The Godfather or James Bond.

(This reminds me of the often appearent rivalry between Skyrim and Dragon Age 2 - another ridiculous one. People seem to think that "They're both RPG's, and both have dragons... They're similar, and I can compare them!" Nope. A single look at each one reveals that the two games are not even close to each other. The stupidity is excruciating.

And in the end, some people will like red over blue. And some the opposite.
I prefer to go for purple.)

You can't compare an RPG to and FPS thats like trying to compare the sun to the moon, or something where it makes no sense to compare them.

That's like convincing a smoker to stop smoking the next day. If it's not his genre, just leave him alone - you'll save yourself a lot of frustration. Deep open-world RPG's aren't for everybody.
If he has no favourite genre, on the other hand, say this: "Battlefield is just a game, Skyrim is an entire world.".

I haven't played Battlefield, so I can't say anything about it.

But still, these two games are totally different. You can't compare them in full. You can only compare parts of them, barely.
You're friend can say he like the game better, but he can't say it's a better game. Especially not if he haven't played BF 3 or Skyrim yet.

After looking at the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wi2tae2PmmU I must say it looks great, graphics-wise.

The most impressive thing about it is the lighting. That's pretty comparable with TES, and only that, since lighting exist in Skyrim too :)
Crysis also had some wicked lighting. Very natural looking.

I haven't really been fond of the lighting in Skyrim, based on what I've seen so far.
Take this for example: http://www.platformnation.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/The-Elder-Scrolls-V-Skyrim-DARGON1.jpg
The lighting is pretty bad on the snow and very bad on the sky.

I definitely think lighting is one of the things that should be improved/tweaked/changed before 11/11/11.

They're two different genres, and non-comparable. I don't expect BF3 to give me the chance to have a little house in another world, explore caves and old ruins and fight dragons, as I don't expect Skyrim to have guns and slaugher mor.....arabian people :)

I feel no special symphaty neither for those kind of game series, or their meaning, but I confess that what i've seen is rather...interesting. I hope they release a demo to get a better taste of it.

.... [censored] yes, there is no comparison at all.

I played COD, but that's only to fill the time until this epic is released.

So in short, Bethesda studios spits big yellow phlegm all over that pile of crap.

These are 2 different games from seperate genres, please stop this idiotic thread.

GOSH!!!

P.S. - Your friend's comparison makes no sense. Two different genres, not enough info released to know the full aspect of the games, and he hasn't played them yet.

From what I've seen, BF3 graphics are amazing. The scales are perfect, and there's just something about the eye perception. It just feels so right.

Now, Skyrim doesn't look as good, but from the info given so far, it seems like it's on the right track. BF3 doesn't have any.

I'd say it's a toss up.

The older I get the less and less interested I get in shooters. Go back a decade when I was in my late teens I loved FPS games, but these days I just hate em, especially the 'military' shooters (like COD and Battlefield). I agree that you simply can't compare the two games. If your friend thinks Battlefield 3 will be better than Skyrim then he's gonna miss out on Skyrim, then again maybe he doesn't RPG's, I wouldn't let it bother you. I do think it's interesting that he has already decided which is the better game when he hasn't played either of them yet, further more he hasn't even played an Elder Scrolls before.

You can compare any game to any game, if you've played them, and if you only take part of what is your opinion, and not making a general statement.

For instance:
I liked Halo 2 much more than Fable 2.
I've played both of them, many times even so.

They are both better than each other because they will both do whatever they are going to do better than anything else.

to convince him that an RPG with a lot more of an in depth story line, and a game where there is way more you can do then a shooter game, all you need to do is let him play it. DO NOT play it in front of him for hours on end. That will definitely make him not want to play it.

Example- One of my friends played fable 1 in front of me for the whole time I was over at his house when it first came out... Made me not like the fable series, because I got really bored of watching it. I have tried playing the fable games, but have put them down very quickly.

Not enough information is available for either to make an informed decision but Skyrim will have depth, replayability and the ability to create your own character and have your own unique adventure.
I will probably get both as Battlefield is a superior online FPS rather than the mainstream Call of Duty.

Your friend is entitled to his opinion and I have no intention on persuading him.
I don't really see the relevance in this but thats my opinion.

Agrea. I mean we do not even know how the game play is going to be. Will there be any rpg elements to this game or is it going be a great a PoS oblivion clone. Which fallout 3 and fallout new vegas was. Wow was oblivion bad.

First off what with the quest waypoints. I not sure if anyone read the dialog or quest for that matter but alot of quest would little info about a person or object you needed to get. Yet the game instanlly gave you the exact waypoint of the person/item. Grrr that is total garbage. Not like all the older games where you spend hours in duengons looking for said item to only release you has passed it a few times and laugh as you had got so much freak exp and good loot by exploring said duengon.

Second what was with the flying travel system. I not calling it fast travel because any good rpg has the how oh you been attacked while traveling. It now time to break the travel and battle. Oh wait you found some friends that you can not pawn some of your garbage on and restock up on healing supplys and stuff. I know there are monsters all over the land but to travel from one side to the other with out having any combat was so boring and lame. It was as if you became superman/superwomen and decided to fly everywhere.

Story and plot was bad. So was the voice action.

At less oblivion combat was slightly better then morrowinds but no where as good as daggerfall you the player actally doing the combat. Not spamming button tell said target is dead.

If this is another game like oblivion. I will wait tell the game is dirt cheap.

If he had said, "Skyrim svcks compared to Fable 4 (I dunno if they'll be a forth)" You have an argument. But because you're talking about a game of two different genres, the argument is pretty much invalid from the start. It would be like me grabbing Shogun 2 and saying to my cousin, "This is SO much better than Dead Space 2 so svck it!" I can't do that because both are very good games for their genres.
