Why Skyrim will be a better game that Battlefield 3

People compare everything to FPS's these days, just ignore your friend when he says these sorts of things.

Battlefield 3 and Skyrim will both be incredible games, but for different reasons. You can't compare these two games. The one is based around Singleplay (TES:V) and the other around Mulitplayer (BF3), not to mention they're in different genres.

And you especially can't compare games that we know so little about! And he hasn't even played a game from the TES series so he doesn't even have a basis to compare them on.

You can't win with this kind of person. I have a friend exactly like this, and the only way to change his opinion is to somehow get him to play the game for a long time. And then he denies that he ever made fun of the game ! He does stuff like that alot, and me and the rest of my friends are used to it.

Skyrim: someone try and explain this in one sentence

awesome journey in awesome world, with awesome story and awesome creatures, awesome past games and awesome lore.
Skyrim's awesome role-playing game with all awesomeness in it.
BF3

great fps with great multy-player experience, real-time graphics and war simulation.
BF is great tactical shooter with many possibilies in battle field.

Well, may the n00bz compare BF to TES

well skyrim does kinda beat it in originality
Battlefield: another war game
Skyrim: someone try and explain this in one sentence

This is one of the reasons why TES games "beat" so many other games, in my opinion.

Skyrim is just at a whole 'nother level. It has so many features, so much you can do, with incredible stories in the background.

Only thing that amazed me with BF 3 video was the graphics, especially the lighting. On other parts, it just seemed, based on the video, as "another war game" as you say.
That's not necessarily a bad thing though. Sometimes you wanna play a game with not much thought in it.

Still, I wish Skyrim had graphics like that. Graphics has become a very important thing nowadays. And if Skyrim is a little behind... which it, to be honest, certainly looks like, then it will lose quite many new players, like your friend perhaps. Players that haven't played TES before.
Because let's face it, graphics is what appeal to us the first time we look at something in a game. It's our first impression, and that's often the most important one when you're at the store and deciding whether to buy a game or not.

I will be playing both. One is going to be the best multiplayer game , another is going to be the best singleplayer game.

Sadly one is going to look much better, DICE really gave PC hardware major support with Frostbite 2.0.

If Creation Engine and Skyrim truly have no DX11, thats really kinda odd considering the "evil and greedy" EA&Activision of all people lets their devs inject DX11 and full PC support.

This is all pretty pointless because Skyrim and Battlefield 3 (lol?) are absolutely nothing alike. That's like comparing a dog and a cat. Just because they are both pets means absolutely nothing.
The only thing you need to convince your friend of is that he's kind of stupid.

I will say one thing, so far the BF3 videos have been done on PC, which I'm happy about. As a PC gamer, I wish Beth had done that with the official trailer as to push and show the graphical capabilities.

Both are high up on my list this year which says a lot so yeah, I'm going to preorder'em both and enjoy'em both.

I'll probably buy both a PC and PS3 copy of BF3 to support the Swedish developers though, and only one copy of Skyrim I think.

there are things on battlefield 2 i remember it was so damn fun..me and my friends.. all inside a blackhawke then it gets hit by a jet then we all jump and started screaming through VOip opening parachutes....ahh those were the days

very tough to compare two unique gameplays... all i worry about Skyrim right is its story and the way its told... because i never felt any emotion for the characters and their stories while playing oblivion ..... no wonder everyone that plays TES gaems wants to kill everyone and children if possible ingame...because there is no charisma about any chaaracter... even when i was playing COD modern warfare 2 i was so excited playing by cpt john price′s side....

now some people are going to say but the story is about your character.... that doenst mean there cant be amazing characters , good dialogues, some emotional moments...

tes loses even to some fps in terms of story....

Hey, Vman's friend! Yeah, you!

Skyrim is far superior.

Signed,

Of course it's subjective. The argument could easily be made that more effort, imagination, and (almost certainly) time goes into the development of an Elder Scrolls game -- particularly Skyrim, from the looks of things -- than the average FPS. Either way, people will play what they enjoy.

Your friend's an idiot. Not because he thinks BF3 is better, but because he just compared apples to oranges and claimed that oranges won.

Because I'll both buy it and play it...
No other reason than that I can give, as I doubt I'll buy Battlefield 3.
Also I don't like shooters much, or their generic loud gameplay.

Yeah I absolutely agree with you. Having an official trailer with that kind of graphics (they're OK, but definitely not great or amazing or incredible), kinda hurts the reputation of TES for those who haven't played it before and know nothing about it.
And it hurts me a bit too since I care about graphics, just as much as I care about gameplay and story. Graphics felt pretty dumbed down in the trailer

I will play both and get back to you. Apples and oranges are comparable. I just compared, oranges are better.

Edit: Concerning apples, I think apples look better. I have seen really beautiful apples in my life. Oranges look like cellulite in wrapping but it is just wrapping. Inside is juicy. Easy to share too. But when you are done with apples, the remaining part is disgusting and it gets bad quickly too. And there is also orange juice which is another story of success.
Edit2: Orange is my favorite color.

Depends on what you compare them, although one is a RPG and the other FPS. I enjoy both genres.

Skyrim would offer a vast world, many quests and adventures, hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Battlefield would offer multiplayer action with concentrated maps [probably not many], not so long campaign [although i can only speculate here], military action and lots of guns :)

Also the time span set in the games is extremely different - one is a medieval fantasy and the other is modern day.

Apples and oranges..

Personally, I don't enjoy linear shooters and I don't care about online play. But for me to therefore say that "Battlefield will svck" is just trolling.

It's pretty safe to say that Skyrim won't look half as good as Battlefield 3. Battlefield 3 looks amazing! The shaders, lighting, shadows and texture resolution are so far out! I'm proud to be Norwegian since Sweden is our neighbor country :) TES6 will hopefully look as good as BF3 though, I'm hoping.

Ones a FPS and 1's an RPG... Neither came out so tell him not to criticize..... The two games we should comepare is Witcher 2 and TESV...... Dragon Age 2 doesn't have a chance against TESV so just skip that....

To be fair, we only saw the xbox360 version of Skyrim. The BF3 we saw was highest settings on PC.

Yeah, probably true about the BF3.

But still, the difference in the same game, between consoles and PC isn't THAT big.
I'm hoping for all I can that Skyrim will look better before its release. A lot better.
What I've seen so far hasn't impressed me that much, to be 100% honest.

If I were Bethesda I'd fear a bit for sales going down because of it, especially since there are so many other great games being released this year.
Skyrim is, imo, still going to be the best hands down. But that's probably because I've read so much about it, though most people haven't done that and know almost nothing about Skyrim or how awesome the story and gameplay is.

If Skyrim want to be very very successful in sales, they're gonna have to show some awesome-looking footage...
Games tend to focus more and more on graphics these days, which is sad in my opinion. But therefore, in this situation, having a game that doesn't follow the standards of "awesome" or "wow" in terms of graphics, will therefore suffer quite a bit from it I think.

Is Battlefield like COD where it holds your hand , and tells you what you have to do in order to go onto the next linear mission?

One is an online military simulator and the other is a realistic fantasy rpg...

Whatever floats your boat. I'll be getting both personally.
