Why Skyrim will be a better game that Battlefield 3

Post » Tue Nov 30, 2010 4:52 pm

I know that Battlefield 3 and Skyrim are very different games, but my friend says that "Skyrim svcks compared to Battlefield 3". He never played any Elder Scolls game before. Please convince him that he is wrong.

Skyrim is an RPG, not an FPS, why would you compare the two? They offer fundamentally different experiences.

Not enough information is available for either to make an informed decision but Skyrim will have depth, replayability and the ability to create your own character and have your own unique adventure.
I will probably get both as Battlefield is a superior online FPS rather than the mainstream Call of Duty.

Your friend is entitled to his opinion and I have no intention on persuading him.
I don't really see the relevance in this but thats my opinion.

Not exactly the same kind of games are they?

um... you mean Call of battlefield 3 right? cuz they are making it into a Call of duty competitor and veering even farther from their roots that Bad company 2.

Yea Battlefield has been going down hill Since Battlefield 2. Battlfield 1942 was by far the best, Vietnam was not bad.
But as for comparing to Skyrim, they are different types of games and very little is known about either so it is impossible to compare.

I love both TES and Battlefield, and I love both fantasy and military stuff. However, I think Skyrim will be a better game in general not because it does anything better than Battlefield 3 because they are absolutely different games, but because I feel that Skyrim will last much longer than Battlefield 3.

Also, Skyrim does not depend on online connection, online players, or having friends to play it with to be fun. It is enjoyable even if you don't have an internet connection or don't have Xbox LIVE Gold for X360 players. You won't get the frustrations you'll get from a multiplayer game, and the rest is just down to preference, really. If you prefer to shoot virtual terrorists in the head with a virtual M4A1 then you would prefer Battlefield, but I prefer exploring a large open world set in a fantasy setting.

Battlefield games are awesome and Skyrim's not out yet so right now Battlefield IS better than Skyrim. After 11.11.11 things might change though.

Very much like comparing apples and oranges though. I can't destroy an entire town down to it's foundations in any TES game and I can do that in Battlefield, they're just too different.

Because it's not another modern day shooter based on current real-life wars? You know, like every other FPS these days.

This makes his oppinion unimportant in my oppinion. I'd say you should ignore him if he's childish enough to judge a game that harshly without ever having played it or any game from the same series.

What does your frined mean with Better? there are many many ways of using better when comparing two things.

Does he mean:
The graphics?
The feeling of the game?
The fun-factor when playing it?
The more same stuff as every other game kind of better?
The variety and freedom of doing anything you want whenever you want?

Skyrim wins on all the relevant ones, feeling cannot yet be measured, fun-factor is individual and the more same stuff goes to the winner BF3, congrats just another shooter game. I just saw the trailer of it and it basically looked like a remix of all the past shooter games I've played, but hey if he likes no variety then BF3 is just for him.

But you can't really compare the games, it's like comparing GT5 and little big planet 2, they can't be compared!

Well for someone who enjoys both types of games i look at it as which will last me longer, Battlefield 3 awesome mulitplayer with an ok singleplayer if any, on the other hand you have Skyrim a game that will last me hundreds upon hundreds of hours without mods mind you, Battlefield3 would be great if you like Multiplayer games Skyrim will be great if your into RPGs. I dont see Battlefield 3 lasting me until the "new thing" comes out which most if not all FPS games do fade out rather quick for everyone. So it really depends on what you like, and tell him/her try out Oblivion he may enjoy it "never know until you try" worst case he will have something to play till Battlefield 3 comes out.

Why are you worried about convincing him anything? Let him have fun with his colt m1a1 while you enjoy yourself slashing, burning and talking your way out of your enemies.
It′s a matter of tastes in the end...

I really think that going to the official forums for Skyrim is kind of biased, you should go to a regular gaming forum and see what everybody says. I like both franchises but I have to say that elder scrolls have given me far more enjoyment over the years. I am going to say that Skyrim is better because RPGs are my favorite genre.

Both will be intense games i reckon. you can't compare to 2 at all, as they are complete different genres. I myself am looking forward to Skyrim so much no game can compete!

In terms of shooting people through a sniper scope from 500 yards away, yeah, Skyrim will svck. Battlefield 3 will be a great game. Skyrim will have dragons though.

Your friend sounds like a 13 year old.
