Why Skyrim will be a breath of fresh air.

The one thing that struck me when I saw that video of the sound guy that really left an impression was the little tidbit of dialogue we heard. The guy who was talking, an ex-blade, was telling the player of a dream he had, about seeing something on the side of a mountain. The way it was described by the character, much to my gratification, was the type of top notch voice acting that really couldn't be called voice acting. It was just some guy telling me about a dream he had.
If there's one thing that can kill a good story, it's hearing some squeaky mouthed wood elf go on about the nine like he was on a bad musical. Fallout 3 inproved on this immensely, having people talking very convincingly. Skyrim will be amazing because, face it, Elder Scrolls games never had a very strong story. THe meges Guild gets attacked by necromancers???? Oh No!!!! I care so friggin much! (Or maybie I'd care more if Romis Polius didn't sound like everyone else in the game.) Some emporer aparrently has been having dreams of me? well, that's nice, I think I'll go exploring now. I mean come on, those of us that made a second character in Oblivion never waited around for people to talk to us, it was bland, predictable, and rightly bad at some points. WE played Elder Scrolls games for the epic worlds, not the generic storylines.
But skyrim will be different. The world is changing, becoming clearer, detailed, more vibrant. Gone are the days of only reading text, or listening to undertalented voice actors go on about nirnroots. We're gonna see some serious [censored] up north, people laughing and crying over a multitude of things, yelling at us or maybe screaming in our faces when we deserve it (Or when we don't). When we steal a bowl from someone's home, they're gonna care. They're gonna turn to us, look us straight in the eye, and spit in our face. That's the Elder Scrolls of tomorrow.
Peronally, I can't wait.

I'll say it again I never had a problem with Oblivion

However, I do agree that Skyrim will completely blow us away. (hopefully) They are really, really, stepping it up for this one story and voice acting wise. (it seems)

Uhh.. sorry, that wasn't just some guy telling you about his dream.

That was the biggest paid voice actor on Skyrim, and the "Martin" of the game. And that dialogue was a quest point.

But let's hope the storyline isn't generic and linear like Oblivion, and more multilayered and branching like Daggerfall and Morrowind (HIGHLY doubt it)
