Why Stormcloaks are better than the Empire

Post » Wed Jul 04, 2012 7:43 pm

The color symbolized their allegiance. If everyone is united under one group and under one cause(liberation of skyrim), then they stand a fighting chance against the Thalmor.

MetalGod is right. The stormcloak victory generates the unity necessary to defeat the Thalmor.

Based on the Guard's color? Skyrim united with only themselves stand no chance against the Thalmor.

He could've gotten Torygg's support and not have to worry about it cause then he'd practically have the High King in his pocket. Being an advisor would've been more suitable as a guide but no he wanted the power.
He would've advised Torygg to fight back, and he would have, i.e. he wouldn't sit and wait for something to be approved and would've directed an attack.

The Imperials can't do anything with the Thalmor still breathing down their necks with dagger digging
As I said that massacre was a horrible event, it happened and will probably happen in a similar fashion but different circumstances.

No it wouldn't, the Empire would be sundered and bleeding (moreso) and Skyrim would be by its lonesome the beast races and mer would be (in a way) oppressed, besides if the Thalmor come aknockin' they'd be by themselves.

Not really, color does not symbolize anything, it's just symbolize the hold they came from.

Must I repeat myself? According to Alvor they only start arresting people after the civil war begin. So Ulfric's the one that make the ban enforced.

And again. Why did a man who once fought FOR the empire, rebel? Oh yeah, it might have to do with that whole incident of being arrested and turned over to the Thalmor by the same people he just pulled out of a fire. Must I repeat myself?

And really, at this point, placing blame on who started it serves nothing. People are dying. One side sits in a circle jerk while the other wants to do something about it. Not a hard equation really.

And I like how everyone is still ignoring the numerous real life examples of just what the empire SHOULD be doing and real examples of this very kind of incident. Why is that? Precedence is tough to argue against ya know...

The Mer's goal (at least the Aldmeri Dominion) want to reach their version of Sovnegarde and cannot do that while Mankind is present. So even if they did start a war by entering another country they'd battle it out with them for awhile then move on to Skyrim.

They will stand a chance of keeping them out of Skyrim, but as far as I know Skyrim doesn't even have a navy and would stand no chance of defeating the Thalmor on Alinor.

If Skyrim is "liberated" by the Empire, then they still wouldn't have free worship of Talos, because of the Aldmeri Dominion. If the Stormcloaks won and decided to let Talos be worshiped freely, then the Dominion will more than likely take notice and starting moving into Skyrim and taking over. The Stormcloaks winning Skyrim is much worse because they have no support from anyone else.

But people won't be taken if Ulfric just let things be, and thalmor capture Ulfric? It's war prisoners are captured I'm sure Ulfric is not the only prisoner.

About real world history, I'm sorry but I'm not wel versed with real world history it always has been my worst subject. So I cannot comment on that.

One side is tied, playing puppet until they can get ahold of the weapon to finish their oppressors. The other is lead by a false leader, a radical who 'wants the best for his country' and hides behind his 'truth'.

The Empire was too weak to fight back but too stubborn to stand down, so Ulfric had to force then down to ally the holds in order to be unified against the Thalmor.

What? Do you really think Skyrim alone can fight against the Aldmeri Dominion. The Empire as a whole had trouble evening fighting off the Dominion. Do you really think ONE country can fight them all?

It would be smarter for Skyrim to join forces with all of the Empire, instead of by itself.

But the Stormcloaks aren't fighting the Thalmor, they are specifically going after Legionnaires. If they said, "Hey, Empire, we're going to go kick some Thalmor ass mkay?", I'm sure that the Empire would be reluctant to intervene, even with Thalmor pressure.

And about the elves reaching their version of Sovngarde by exterminating other races. No one is gonna sit back and allow themselves to be killed so that another race can prosper.

That said, the Stormcloaks still have no chance of victory without reforming some semblance of an Empire.

The WGC allows the Thalmor to legally carry out their persecution. So long as the Empire is weakened, they can't do anything about it: it's the law.

Which is why the empire is useless. Won't or can't, result is the same. No need to hold hands with the empire.

Someone responded to your Massacre parallel on a different page, if I'm not mistaken.

Not from what I've seen.

Honestly, I don't care much about the religious freedom and all of that crap. I don't hate Stormcloaks; I just support the Empire because I believe a Legion victory would sport a better shot at defeating the Thalmor rather than a Stormcloak victory. If the Stormcloaks were smart, they'd assault the Thalmor instead of the Empire. It's not like the Empire wants to ban worship, they just have to. If feasible, the Empire would might even assist them.

The empire can't even feed its troops. Its lost numerous territories and its very presence in Skyrim is reliant on NORD recruits. The empire is powerless. Even more telling that the Alik'r are fending off the Thalmor on their own in Hammerfell. Skyrim is best removing any shackles and fighting for its own freedom. The empire is better off utilizing that turmoil to turn tide on the AD in their own front. And again, there is real world precedence. Get out of Skyrim and force the AD and the Thalmor to fight on 2 fronts (Skyrim and Hammerfell). When the preparations have been made, attack yourselves and force a 3rd. Its what did in the Nazis.

The Empire is filled with diplomats and politicians, not Captains and Warriors. If they settled with the WGC, then what makes you think they would just join Ulfric. At the time of the WGC, Ulfric was with the Empire.

He caused a rift is what he did. Weakness and stubborness are two completly different things. To weak to fight but strong willed enough to continue and live to fight another day.
With the war all Ulfric did was divide Skyrim friend vs friend, family vs family. Creating an unbalance that came to bite him back.

The Empire got their asses royally whooped, and it has just as many Captains and Warriors (hence the legions that conquered all of Tamriel).

Most of the Empire will be focussed on retaking Skyrim leaving Ulfric to try and battle two crumbling, but still mighty superpowers at once.
