Why Stormcloaks are better than the Empire

Post » Wed Jul 04, 2012 3:26 pm

You're saying one man who can shout is much better than the entire Alik'r?

Yes. The dovahkiin can single handedly stop the world from beind devoured by a god/dragon. I think he can handle a few elves.

Because Skyrim have the Alik'r. Right? But they don't.

The point went wooosh over your head, way up there.

Forcing any army to fight on multiple fronts can crush even the greatest military.

The sequel should have the Dovahkiin travelling to every Province, Akavirir (to get Nerevarine), and the Psijic island in order to raise an army against the Thalmor.

Really, I thought you were the moderator, I thought you would have closed this a while ago

While fighting on another front in Hammerfell? That's what the Nazis thought too when Hitler decided to invade Russia while simultaneously fighting in the west. How'd that work out?
The Alik'r navy isn't anywhere near large enough to threaten the Altmer, and the Bosmer have a big advantage in Valenwood due to the heavy forest terrain.

And the point is moot if the Thalmor manage to activate their doomday device in order to reach their higher plane of exsistence.

Hitler wasn't exactly the greatest commander, though. Not saying he was the sole reason two fronts became the undoing of his rule, but it certainly didn't help.

Taking Alinor is probably the same as trying to invade Skyrim in the winter: A doomed effort without a foothold. However the Empire is probably in a military position of advantage if the Stormcloaks are defeated(after a few years at least). The lore(unless I have missed something) states that elves reproduce slow compared to humans and the Aldmeri forces were decimated. Valenwood and Elseweyr should be the Empire first priority IMO, so they can weaken the Thalmors influence on the world
Valenwood would also be hard to invade due to the heavy forest.

Alinor is more fortified than Skyrim.

1) you know this how, considering men are present there.

2) Nord success isn't dependent on invading Summerset. Its only dependent upon driving out the AD. Miring down the AD on multiple, unbeatable fronts (Hammerfell and Skyrim) is all the empire really needs to recoup and counterattack. This is why cutting the chains on the Nords is the best thing that the Imperials could be doing.

Again, this is exactly how the US bankrupted the Soviets during the cold war. Proxy war via supporting the Mujahideen.

I'm glad you guys argue about video games.

And I'm glad you got svcked into a thread. What does that say about the importance of events in your own life?

Not nerd rage. I find this topic to be the more interesting here because it has numerous real life parallels. I find the ethics involved in this TES to be more interesting that the overblown fantasy in previous TES. And lastly, I find the military strategy involved to be interesting because I have military experience.

Its also nice to see both sides of the shadow. See how other people think and reason. Arguments are what bring people together.
