why take away the consoles access to unlimited resources

Post » Fri Mar 18, 2016 7:10 am

As do I. Why harp on about something when you can have that something.

I mentioned upthread that this has become less of a "I want to do this but I can't" thread and more of a general system warsy bickering thread. All that remains are the various arguments that sprung up in the meantime.

I used to be like OP when Fallout 3 dropped. Then I assembled my first gaming PC and now I can do what ever the hell I want with my vidya.

Bethesda open-world titles are innately superior on PC not only for the mods, graphics and stability but the ability to cater the game into exactly what you want or need.

Can't progress a quest because of a broken script? Use console commands. Can't build the settlement you want? Console commands.

Being a Bethesda fan on consoles is just being sado masochistic. You only have yourself to blame.

As a PS4/PC player I think mods to consoles is about to even the balance, I intentionally bought Fallout 4 for PS4 after that was announced. The reason, stability and knowing I'll get my mods eventually anyway. Good mods will not start appearing anyway until the CK is released.

You know mods on gaming consoles won't have as much freedom and choice as it is on PC.

You're only fooling yourself if you remotely think that.

I'm most interested in New Lands, new quests, new interiors, new weapons, they will all come to console

Yeah all that should be possible on a console. I know some fairly talented mod authors are thinking about quest/interior mods for both pc and consoles.

I'd really like Beth to lay down what restrictions they will have. Besides the obvious ones. For example what would be the maximum size file they allow?

Not all of them. There will be restrictions and size file limits, at the very least mods will be curated, filtered for content (copyright/restricted imagery etc.).

Again, you're fooling yourself if you think consoles gamers will ever get freedom of content that PC gamers enjoy.

Look, they may never put Console Commands on XBox, but I still want to hope it'll happen someday. If I offended anyone, then sorry, but I believe what I believe.

But mods on consoles being curated? So no fun mods?

(Raises Hand)

You act like consoles are gonna explode at any second, sheesh :P

The only thing "superior" about the pc version is those stupid console commands that people fuss about all the time, then never use when they get the pc version. The game runs very smoothly on my PS4, and I have encountered very few glitches since I first started playing.

Same here on XBox One, never ran into game breaking bugs. Just minor ones that fix themselves.

No offense taken at all. I actually agree that console commands should happen. I just think they won't do it

And yes, console mods will be curated. Same set of rules that steam had is the long and short of it. No nudity, no child killing. Basically anything that would be taken down from these forums, would be rejected. That's if Tod Howard didn't change his mind since the last interview on the topic.

A few direct quotes, basically saying that there will be an approval process. It also mentions various restrictions on the type of mods.

edit: The real kicker is, stuff that companies allow us pc users to mod with, would be rejected on their service, as Beth would have to request it. So no http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8841/?type mods unless Beth asks Kanomi

Mod makers will want their mods to come to console, they will see it as a badge of honour and of course a possible tripling of people using their mods

Let's hope the restrictions aren't o bad, and let's hope modding the Xbox or PS4 isn't to difficult. Speaking of which, how do you think they'll do do it, cause modding FNV on PC was a great challenge for me, atleast when I owned a PC.

You have a very twisted understating of word "truth". I'd Google that word before I'd use it.

There's a difference between of "wanting to do something" and "actually getting what you want". Especially regarding restrictions on console gaming.

My guess it will look basically like steams service. Requiring all files to be packages in esp/esm etc formats. No loose files, no third party programs like fallout script extender.

edit: They will probably also do something like steam when it comes to moderating the files. Which is to say, wait until somebody notices and complains, then start banning folks.

If I was a PC gamer who sent £1500 notes or more on my rig for modding Fallout 4 and a console player starts getting the same mods and spent only £250 on a PS4 I'd be feeling worried. I can see a large shift in people buying consoles in future due to this
