why that stupid dragon stays in air 90% of time?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 1:36 pm

Otherwise no problem if they spawn everytime I fast travel. And yes I whine even though I'm archer, there is no way to shot it why it flies miles away with fast speed. I can imagine how it feels who play warrior/mage. I can only hit it from air when he breaths in air still, but that rarely happens. He's just flying and when it lands, it lands miles away from me. I sprint close to him and again in air. Damn so frustrating.

Spoiler
Once you get the Dragonrend shout from the Main Quest, you can land a dragon on demand.

He stays in the air because you can't fly. Dragons aren't dumb.

I have never had this problem....
You can ground a dragon pretty solidly by draining their stamina, by the way.
They don't fly when they're tired.

Spoiler
It may also be Alduin, who follows you about sometimes, he may attack, but he can't be killed as he will fly of at low health. This is before the end of the MQ obviously.

Hey, if I could fly, I sure wouldn't spend much time on the ground. Would you?

Of course, it does kind of show something of a weakness in a game where there's no flying magic. Anyhow, until you get Dragonrend, there is another shout which you may or may not have which can help - I don't remember the dragon-tongue name, but it's "Slow Time". I've found that is often useful, if I can get near the dragon before it takes off, once it activates, I have about 10 seconds during which the dragon either stays on the ground, or flies slowly enough I have a chance at maybe hitting it.

To understand recursion, you must first understand recursion.

Which is a fancy of way of saying. . .

You are suggesting that the answer to the problem lies in hitting the dragon, but the player cannot hit the dragon, so how will they drain the dragon's stamina? Your solution depends upon first coming up with a different solution to the problem.

Let's all shout and scream, let's get angry !

And burn your house down with lemons!

For whatever reason I read that in Cave Johnsons voice and figured this reply would be appropiate, if not, please return lemons with mail, in fire proof package.

Hehe, awesome :hubbahubba:

As for dragons, I'm only having a problem with them when they're not grounded, so maybe they're not so stupid after all? :)

I don't mind them flying and hitting me it adds more to the challenge. But if you want it to land you have to get under something so it can't hit you and then wait for it to land if al is smart enough to realize that he doing any damage.

Um ... if you were a dragon how would you do it? I just think it's pretty good AI for them to use air attacks only for a while to weaken the foe before diving in for the kill. Heck if I was a dragon I would never land until I saw your smoking corpse on the ground, then it's lunchtime.

I have same problems with birds in real life. i want to catch em, but they fly away. i guess because they have wings like dragons, but im not sure if thats the reason why they able to fly and why they do it. Anyone can lighten me up? *sigh

I think the point - at least for me - is that it is sometimes difficult to get the dragon to actually attack you.

When they land, its look like they are tired. Resting their wings a bit, then they fly again :D

If a dragon is not attacking you but just flying around, there's not a lot you can do without a lucky or extremely well times shot. But if they are in the air breathing on you, you should be interrupting them with unrelenting force shout, this makes them land.

They stay in the air for the same reason why animals dont stand still when you shoot at them. Duh. :P

Well I would like a shout that makes the dragons land. In 3rd person my camera is always getting stuck under something trying to track them.
