Why is the Advanced Power Armor Grey?

Post » Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:01 pm

This maybe random, but grey is my favorite color.

"Why is the Advanced Power Armor Grey?"
'cause it would look gay if it's pinkish...

sorry to all of the gay people...

Given the fact that in those days having an animated fan on the back of the armor would have been incredibly difficult to impossible...
Do you really believe that?

If it was a fan, couldn't they have just changed the position in the frames of the idle animation? Its trivial.

~Now... that mentioning of a 60,000 watt fusion power pack (on the T-51b) makes me lean a bit more towards it being the radiation symbol.

the only evidence we have is the fact some of the original fallout design team worked on New Vegas.
Can't ask them now... They've released it with a fan in NV.

**It just sounds like someone's, "Can we make that a spinning fan?" suggestion. :banghead:

Could be, but perhaps with it being more advanced (By how many PA generations we don't know) but perhaps the Enclave somehow found a way to change it's power output, but that fan is required for cooling of precious pieces (Perhaps it's a fan/reactor rolled into one)

Plus, people complain about it not being stealthy, Thank the Enclave, they always went in guns blazing.

I saw it as a faded black color. I could care less why it's that colour, it looks good.

And then having

~Now... that mentioning of a 60,000 watt fusion power pack (on the T-51b) makes me lean a bit more towards it being the radiation symbol.

And yet the T-51b doesn't have a radiation symbol on it, so that really doesn't prove anything either.

Yeah they released it with a fan, which is evidence that proves it was always a fan.
People used to assume that the color of a light saber was based off of personality of the user.

...
So?

It does not have to prove anything ; I said that the mention of the power pack on the t-51b, has me leaning towards it being a radiation symbol on the Enclave armor
~and it does.

(But also the artwork is clear enough on it's own for me.)

Yeah they released it with a fan, which is evidence that proves it was always a fan.
Why exactly? Think about it... Think about the other things (in both games) that contradict prior art; Like Mr.Handy for example.

No. You'd create more problems than its worth, and then you'd have to answer the question of "why does it stop when I'm moving?".

That assumes it runs all the time ~it might run off and on as needed. (And there are stationary idle animations too remember?)

*Still... its moot as it was not a fan.

I think it is safe to say, when it comes to the fan on the back of the APA, that Gizmo...

*Puts on sunglasses*

is not a fan.

Potentially, but the fan makes sense too. A lot of sense. Portable fusion reactors need cooling, and lots of it.

Which are a poor solution for something that size.

So? That was just a suggested possibility. It could be liquid nitrogen in a self contained cooling unit with no visible parts ~it could be anything... even a fan,
(but that decal on the back isn't one).

*I did wonder what I could come up with in 4 minutes... and this is it http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/armor6-test.gif

If they wanted they could have done this for real. (It need not be picked apart either, as this is not how they would have done it.)

Honestly I like them better Grey.

I love the vulture helmets and gigantic haunched shoulder look. Very menacing.
I know their all about purity, so white would make a nice color to show their mindsets, even though they have distorted views and are basically wasteland Nazis.

The armor is grey because it's been around for a long time and become somewhat dirty.

Well the Bible said nobody knew what happened to Navarro but now of course we know :cryvaultboy: It's still the same model power armour, it was never clear what it was in the old games, I would have said radiation symbol too, but I now fully accept that it was a large fan. Unless you are suggesting that they're different suits, it's not contradicting established canon.

The artwork was clear enough for me... I don't accept that it was a large fan.
It is obviously a fan modeled into the Remnant armor, but that does not change that it wasn't so in the original ~and that's hat the remnant armor is supposed to be right?.

 All this scrutinizing of the old sprite has convinced me that I made the Rad symbol too small in my own model; I think I will make it a tad larger.

I'm not sure it is either or. All I known now is, when I played Fallout 2 a few days ago, I saw the 'radiation symbol' as a fan. I never even payed attention to the back of the armor until New Vegas :swear:

We're getting into some kind of complicated senario now I think, for me, New Vegas has over-written the past. It can't be both right? It has to be one or the other, they are the same model unless your pulling a F3 on me ;)

Well... New Vegas is based on Fallout 3, and it greatly over-wrote the established past; so NV doing it is not so surprising.
*Just look at the Super Sledge, Laser rifle, and the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mr_Handy 'bot.

This wasn't too hard... http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/Mr-Handy31-1.jpg
(Though it wasn't finished, and I've lost the mesh. :banghead: ; I'll need to remake it, to finish my mod.)

Asthetical changes are to be expected, for the longest time I assumed that the APA in F3 was, technically in lore, the same as the Mk II in Fallout 2. Same with the Vertibirds, I don't think that the entire fleet was rebuilt; just artistic differences but, in lore, the same.

I don't think so... That robot was featured in the game's title sequence, and throughout both series games. That'd be like changing the Power Armor helmet. :lmao:

IMO though... None of the new designs fit the series. ~But then... IMO neither does the new gameplay ~so what's left but the name?
(Actually... It would have pretty been nice if they'd changed the spelling too, come to think of it.)
