Why the crap was the E3 demo running on XBOX 360 hardware?

Post » Sun Feb 22, 2009 1:38 am

No one wants to see what the **** 360 is capable of. We already know: absolutely nothing. We want to see stunning PC graphics, so why show off the dumbed down console version? I just can't figure out this decision on Crytek's part.

Because they want other People to experience the Game too, instead of PC Gamers only. Personally i liked it and am planning on getting it for the Xbox360 even though my PC is fully Upgraded to play Crysis on Very High smothly.

I respect the fact that they want to bring Crysis to a broader audience, but if they want to really hype the game, and get people excited, they should show PC footage, not 360 footage. Their core fanbase is made up of PC gamers.

Also, the dude who was presenting the game during E3 has an epic accent. :D

This is their first crysis on consoles so I bet they wanted to show you that you could still run an awesome game like that smoothly and sill look great. They were just proving that the console can play the game just as well.

Yeah, I can see totally see the logic in that. It makes sense that they would want to prove that they can make the game look good on consoles. I still think they should have at least showed footage from BOTH console AND PC though, just to show off the amazing graphics a PC can generate with Cryengine 3.

Exactly, they already have a fan base full of PC gamers so from a sales perspective its more important to entice console gamers through tech demos. Also, everyone already knows that Crysis is gonna look amazing on PC, Crytek needed to show that they were able to do the same for weaker console hardware. Or at least thats the way i reasoned it out :)

They showed the **** one because most PC gamers aren't retarded; they'd know that it doesn't look like a pile of junk. Look at Crysis 1. Plus, the hardware's cheaper.

That "DUDE" was Cevat Yerli, founder and CEO of Crytek. Crytek isn't from the US, they're from Germany, an accent is almost expected.

Although I get why they showed up the Xbox version, how about the PS3 or PC? In theory each will make up 33% of the market, yet the videos so far have been 100% Xbox.

Its EA marketing decision not Crytek's.

EA is using this marketing decision because if they showed PC version first and then console, many console players would feel cheated and deceited. Instead, if you show the crappiest version and work your way up towards release, this will build up the hype train because of the "awesome" graphics and how far they came from Alpha version.

People, you already know it's going to look awesome on the PC. If anything, the great graphics on the Xbox should get your hopes up for how good it will look on PC.

like Crytek said, show off the worst first, then build up. so we start with the 360, then hit the PS3, then start at a basic PC setting, then push it all the way!

It's comments like '**** 360' which discourage me in regards to the PC gamer fan-base, and this is coming from a person who is primarily a PC gamer.

Crysis 2 is being shown on a console because of how big of an achievement it is to get Cryengine running on consoles. In interviews I've seen, everything is still all dynamic and in real time. No baking of AO or shadows - and that is a huge feat for a console.

I am actually more interested in seeing the console footage even though I don't own any of them anymore. If they can get the game running stable @ 30 FPS with those graphics on a 360...

I said "****" because that is a fact. The 360 hardware really is abysmal. Heat issues, super loud fan, disc scratching, video errors, and more! I'm just glad that Microsoft FINALLY released a hardware redesign during E3. It was the ONLY interesting part of their conference.

I have nothing personally against the 360 or its games, it's just that the original hardware was really bad.

Gotta love the PC vs. Console war. It's a very heated subject.

Chances are they're using Xbox for the first looks probably because the PS3 may look slightly better with the blue ray and what not. And the PC version will crush and stomp both into the ground.

Lets be honest here.. the whole show was about stuff for the xbox360 also, the smaller retarded consoles most likely earn the companies more money. PC gamers are called nerds and geeks - console tards get away with it :P

Is it possible that the 360 has the largest player base and therefore potential to generate the most hype from any of the platforms?

I'd also agree with the starting at the bottom and working their way up comment. lol

Actually it's changed basicly the nerd/geek order is Xbox, Wii, PS3 and PC. Oh and Xbox falls on top of the list for preschool gamers as well.

I′m fine with them showing the console versions first, but i expect from them that the first PC footage will blow everyone away. And hopefully they use all the DX11 features while still maintaining a good framerate.
