I've got to say that if were a Dev (highly unlikely, to be fair) then I'd go as far as anonymously lurking on this forum - but never in a million years would I post here

If I was a dev I would certainly post in these forums quite often.
There are alot of threads with rather generic subjects (race, class, playstyle preferences) that allow posting without giving away spoilers and secrets as a dev, but still letting people know that you are watching.

If the devs were more active in the forums every thread would probably be derailed and inundated with ridiculous "Wouldn't it be cool if..." posts.

Haha that's right, they already post "OMG they exist", "I see a dev watching this", "Hello killmoms I see you there" when they see a dev browsing a thread, let alone post something...

Has anybody thought it is because many of them have it as their job and after 9 hours of working on it they might be a little sick of it and then if they went on the forums they would be badgered continusly and they would never have a break from well.. their job really.

There's more than enough hype on the forum already, I don't think we need to add to it. :D

You'r right. I was referring to the ordinary interest in the game. Not hype. Hype svcks (but it do sell tickets).

As many others have said, I think they are probably supposed to keep quiet and only leak what information is allowed. It's understandable that they wouldn't want to release too much info, and by keeping us guessing, they keep us more interested. ;)

25 hours is more than a day there are only 24 hours in a day if you could keep going that long you would have to be immortal.

I'm honestly amazed that people didn't try to milk the devs for info. Anyway, it's good to see that at least a few developers actually read their own forums, keep up the good work.

I noticed that despite the big fans community and the huge amounts of discussions here about Skyrim, there is something lacking: the feedback from the developers.

I had expected a better communication between the team and the fans because there are so many discussions about Skyrim that would benefit greatly some inside explanations. Some of the dilemas or the suggestions go way off because people don't have a clue what's the team's view on a particular subject.

I know of meet the devs threads, they are a fun reading and that's all but they are not a bi-directional communication about the game.

I wouldn't want spoilers from the game. I wouldn't want the devs to take sides in disputes. I would just like to see some off the record devs contribution on the topics, personal opinions and nothing more, but related to Skyrim.

What about you, do you miss this dialogue or it's just me?

Well, they're probably spending their time wisely by working on the game....

Mostly legal reasons I'm sure but i remember a conversation a few month or two ago where someone had a link to an article that explained how badly a forum relationship with a fanbase and devs might corrupt the game or relationship.

Basically if a Developer looks at to many of the opinions they might think they need to change something and maybe make the game worse, or someone might get ticked off at a certain agitating fan and that would not look good.

http://gamepolitics.com/2011/01/06/why-game-developers-should-avoid-their-own-forums

Something like this I think. but mostly for not letting go of top secret info.

Like others have said it is probably hard to participate in Skyrim discussion when they have been forbidden to release any information on the game that hasn't already been.

It would be like planning a surprise birthday party for somebody with a few of their close friends, and then getting into conversation with that person about his birthday before the surprise. It would be awkward, you would have to act like you are interested in what they say while he comes up with ideas for his birthday, all the while knowing that there is a surprise for him but you can't talk about that!

So the devs know a lot about what is going to be in the game and have seen it, but we know almost nothing. It is probably hard to come here to the forums and chat it up with us who don't know hardly anything while trying to balance what they can talk about.

We are a very small fraction of the series' fan base. I think it's neat the developers can see ideas but they can't be expected to implement all of them. This is especially true with the sentiment as if polls here represent the "will of the fans." They only represent a poll of a tiny amount of people that chose to respond to the poll, which is a tiny amount of the people on the boards, which is a miniscule amount compared to how many fans the series had even before Morrowind and Oblivion skyrocketed the series' popularity.

Hey, we already know that gelatinous cubes are in game. Confirmed by at least two developers. That's enough for one thread.
