Why the devs aren't participating to discussions?

Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 3:46 pm

Hey, we already know that gelatinous cubes are in game. Confirmed by at least two developers. That's enough for one thread.

Maybe we can make Jello swords with them.

EDIT: Or maybe even Jello armor that can eat enemies, and it grows in defense as it consumes them!

No, it wouldn't work. I would eat my sword if it was made out of jello... :teehee:

What?

I could repeat myself, but I really see no point in doing this. Read the whole thread, and be very observant.

I personally am more concerned about physics of their bodies. What will happen if I kill one gelatinous cube and then jump on him from above? This is important. Will it work as a trampoline? I sense endless tactical gimmicks.

This thread is a "dev-magnet." Here's a toast to the developers for their diligence and for working 25-hours-day. :foodndrink:

With the amount of utter rubbish some people put up here, I'd say the devs don't engage in conversations simply because they have better things to do. Like, you know, make the actual game? Arguing with idiots (myself included :hehe: ) takes up alot of work hours...

I kind of like this mystery around many of the devs, we saw their group picture but we don't know who is who. They are like Dexter: you don't see them, you don't hear them, and when you do it's too late :hehe:

Because they don't want to spoil it.
They are too busy with the game. Playing it, testing it, finding bugs and putting stuff in it.

Oh yes, I'm sure they work 15 hours a day.

It's called a crunch period. Last six months of development with games usually. And don't you think they'd have some sort of recreation that's not work related? I mean, wouldn't you rather they be getting some rest so they can show up for work the next day and be productive?

Let's get some context here, Maxwell. The reply to why the devs are not talking was simply "maybe they're working on the game" with a face palm.
The insinuation of course being that they don't have time to be here. Which is almost certainly false in theory since there's no way they're all working 15 hours a day, there's no way I'll believe that. And false in practice, since this thread and the day to day activity is evidence that the devs do frequent the forums.

There is also another implication to be drawn from that statement, and that is that nobody else who isn't a dev on these forums has a job, which insulting in the opposite respect. Plenty of people work hard jobs and find time to come on here. So almost certainly the case that there are other reasons as to why the devs aren't coming here.

If you would read the thread, you would see that I suggested this myself as a reason for the dev's not coming here quite so much. I'm sure some Devs do work 15 hours days, probably not all of the time. The purpose of my post stands.

well looking at the ratio of the post compared to oblivion which has been out for like 5 years, skyrims forums already at ~60% of oblivions total forums posts

maybe its just too much for the devs to flip through and comment on a thread before it gets buried by 5 more threads of the same topic

They can't say anything. Period.

They do tend to post after the game is released to answer questions about the CS. Hopefully they do what they did with Fallout and make some videos.

Didn't the forums receive an update that reset the thread count?

This has to be, I can't believe that the Skyrim forums already have more posts than the Oblivion forums, and are aprouching the topics count. I just can't, as incredible as Skyrim is. :P

As an asside, how long do you think it'll be before the Skyrim forum hits 1, 000, 000 posts? At this rate, we'll make it before Skyrim even comes out.

You know, I've never imagined Todd as a very intimidating or demanding person. I have no idea why. At the risk of your own job, is Todd Howard a nice boss? :P

Lol you cant expect an honest answer to a question like that on a site that belongs to the company hes working for.

So..instead ask for his cell number, then feed that to the internet.

Then by the end of this endevor we'll either have answers to skyrim questions, or he'll have to sacrifice his phone. muahahaha

I am taking screenshots of the dev posts and will sell them to the National Inquirer as proof that they exist. Unfortunately, the shots are low resolution and taken at night so its really hard to tell if they are genuine.... darnit! Foiled again. :(
