I'd just like to thank the fine folks at Bethesda for making a game which seems determined to stop me from playing it. Not only it is a horrendously buggy mess (not to even touch on the total ruination of all Fallout canon and any sort of logical approach to the world, character and game design), but it seems like nowadays I can't go for more than ten minutes without the game crashing on me for no apparent reason, even without mods and the like. I'm not sure what sort of quality control standards there are, but I for one am dedicated to giving Bethesda a huge "[censored] you" when it comes to their next game release.

I'm not going to lie: I'm not even interested in getting these issues fixed, because I know that there are no fixes in the first place. Fallout 3 is a smouldering wreck of a game, and all the tweaks and mods in the world can't save it. The reason I'm here is to express my intense disgust at Bethesda for releasing and then so hideously failing to support their product in any adequate, much less competent way. Apparently it's just fine to release paid downloadable content by the boatload, without the base game being playable in the first place! [censored] you, you wretched wastes of human life.

Mine runs fine. A lot of people's versions run fine. There's a lot of factors for the crashes.

First thing I notice: Your graphics card isn't exactly the best. Fallout 3 is pretty demanding.

Mine runs fine as well. You may want to try to get the game to run in a clean boot.
@ Expresate Also the 8800 can run the game fine on atleast high settings, if not ultra with good FPS.

Apply the quad core fix to FALLOUT.ini. If you also installed into the program files folder, you did that wrong too.

Also sear, I won't disagree with you that the game is buggy and under the wrong circumstances it can be unplayable. Just clam down. It's not as bad as you think, and there might be a way to fix it. With mods. Bethesda seems to have dropped Fallout 3 support.

There may be another problem with your friends rig then, a lot of members use the 8800 here.

I use Dual 8800GTs in SLi and my system can handle Fallout 3 on ultra settings and my system specs are lower than yours. It might be because I have two video cards, it might not... or it could even be that I'm just too awesome for Fallout 3 to comprehend.

Seriously though, you should have no problem running this game. For a while I never even realized that I had to enable the second 8800GT in the Nvidia control menu and even then I got a good 40 - 50 FPS with just one 8800GT. Stop whining, you've got a PC capable of playing Crysis and probably even Mass Effect 2 on pretty high settings.
