You don't have to be a part of the temple to avoid the "We're watching you... scum" line. I usually play as a female Dunmer with the Lady as my sign and they never call me scum - not even when I join the Telvanni.

That said, I love the Ordinators. In real life I would hate them but somehow in Morrowind I like them - even when they try to arrest me. I actually try to avoid killing them as much as possible...

I've never been put off by the rudeness or bad attitude of the land-based Ordinators, but their aerial strike teams are a bit of a nuisance. For every one I kill there always seem to be ten more to take their place. http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/7025/whathassciencedonet.jpg

When I first started playing the game I remember feeling so cool when I finally managed to slay an ordinator... that ebony mace he carried fed my family for a month (I roleplay heavily), and I kept the armor for myself. Morrowind was my first TES experience, I was not but an intrepid adventurer in the mystical land of RPGs. Ah, how fondly I remember those long hours, roaming the vast expanses of Vvardenfel, full of youthful energy and excitement. The tremors that coursed through my spine upon the first encounter with the Ghostgate. By now I think I've memorized the map and every quest, my innocence has been corrupted to experience, my passion for adventure diminished to a bleak husk of what it once was...

What was I talking about again? Ah yes the "scum" thing. That was cool too.

Funny thing just happened actually

I was in Vivec when an ordinator said to me "were watching you scum" and just at that moment another Dunmer goes "someone is watching me... I can feel it" (or something similair)

I must say I laughed :P

Is it because my character is not a temple member ?

Well, if you're Scum, why not?
Seriously though, if my char is a Temple member, I usually get the "Scum" cussing from a Telvanni guard.

Pretty much-- yeah.

My last character was both Temple and Redoran, and I actually found myself missing the aggressive Ordinators. Instead of being hostile and suspicious, they were all fawning, simpering sycophants. ("May you find me worthy of your attention.") Sort of creepy, really.......

Hilarious! My characters were always members of the Mage's Guild so they always treated me like dirt!

someone should do a mod of the ladies in the house of earthly (nirnly?) delights and have them walk up to you and say "you want a dance, scum?"

Simple its because ordinators in their greatness refers to most as scum for the n'wah that they are. Besides ordinators are awesome and were a great part of Morrowind.

Now we just need a mod that replaces the cliff racers attack sound with the line We're watching you, scum. :goodjob:

Or replace them with flying ordinators. That would be scary.

Then you're going to love the next Tamriel Rebuilt release. It will include a new faction of Ordinators with a new set of armor

WOOT! That's awesome news. Thanks.

The Ordinators have always been unctuously polite to me, but that's because almost all my characters have gotten a good start at climbing the Temple hierarchy by the time I get to Vivec for the first time. My first character I RPed as VERY Temple religious, and she lapped up that whole "Praise Vivec!" stuff, took it very seriously.

Then the Imperial Cult started harassing her. You can't win the god wars.

It's really weird to start the game with high personality (Imperial + Personality as favoured attribute + Lady). Everyone's nice to you at the start of the game.
