Because it sounds awesome.

Why is the release date 11-11-11?
Why is Mayonnaise white?
Why is the sky blue?
Why is TES awesome?

Because it just is? Who cares, and why is it an issue with people? Just ridiculous.

I don't think it's an issue with people. I think we all have nothing better to do right now while we wait for more game news and some gameplay footage. Come on gameplay footage! I read on Game Informer's Skyrim Hub that they got a demo of a forest village to show off the NPCs doing various tasks that had been assigned to them by the Radiant AI. Is there any way the rest of us can see this forest village? I wouldn't think so since I've heard nothing about it, but I'm hoping to be wrong.

Is it just picked to make us wait? Is it the time of an important event in Cyrodiil? Did they estimate that was the time to release it? I think it was a deadline just randomly selected but I'm not sure and that's why I'm asking.

Yeah, the date 11.11.11 is a totally random date, without any thought whatsoever put into it.

5/10 - I give you plus-points for a successful troll.

Six pages so far on this subject?

Obviously they finished the game long ago, and derive sadistic satisfaction from denying us access to the game for months!

In case the can't tell, the above sentence is sarcasm.

Seems Bethesda figured the November time frame was when they could reasonably complete the game, and then just picked a memorable date in that time frame.

Because if they move out to another release date, they'll lose the coolness of that day (along with their manly attributes ;) */grabs some scissors and knives*).

That's the thing though, it is a problem for some people believe it or not. There are people out there freaking out because it's coming out on 11-11-11. I couldn't tell you why, but people complain about it, they have since it was announced. Pretty sure the 4th or 5th thread on this forum when they put it up was asking why the release date because it was offensive to them because the date means something to them. It's hilarious.

I'm sorry if this has already been posted on this thread but when Pete Hines is asked about the date, he mentions how it's the same in the U.S. and overseas and how it's cool in this latest podcast. That's the answer.
