Why the Sole Survivor isn't an android.

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:43 pm

Think about this, if The Sole Survivor was an android.....

A. How would radiation effect him?

B. How would things like stimpacks and other chems effect him?

It simply doesn't add up.

Android blood is fake, injecting a stimpack into your arm wouldn't cure you of your wounds.... it wouldn't be able to heal anything.

Or he's a bio-android and all bets are off.

also they didn't have them up and running pre war(at least not to the level that they'd start escaping) ,or the fact that he /she has a kid

Yeah, but those could have been fake memories if he was an android.

Hasn't this whole discussion of whether or not the PC is an android, already been brought up enough for people to think about? You're just treading over points people have already brought up in older threads, about this.

Bio-mechanical android.

Honestly I'm more of the idea of had their brain placed in a bio-mechanical cybernetic body or cryogenics.

True, but some people get antsy without any more news or they haven't seen those old threads. Besides, sometimes rehashing these ideas leads to new insight into the game that we haven't had before.

I have wondered if those colours were so saturated at the start due to them being fake, and it would have been easy to survive the blast wave if they were. Something else that has me guessing is who the android is in the original trailer, was that meant to be the player?

My only reservation about the android idea is Todd's words about the child.

that's interesting, had some impression of fakeness myself, but for me, it wasn't the colors -

it was how frantically clean and orderly it all was.

A: That's a good question. I guess it depends on the android. Harkness probably wasn't in the situation to find out, so this is a nice open field.

B: I bet Harkness applied Stimpaks and it actually healed him. It's hard to believe he wouldn't have done that as Security Chief. Of course you can explain it away by relocating it to his programming that simply ignores such logical fallacies and convince Harkness that he is human. But I feel that defeats the point and stretches Fallout 3's lore too far.

So I'd say radiation and Stimpak healing could technically both affect an extremely advanced android (possibly more sophisticated than even A3-21).

However, we are not going to play an android.

People don't honestly think the protagonist is an Android, do they?

It was a theory someone made for the hell of it and I think some people took it way to seriously.

There's no reason to believe he wasn't down in that vault for 200 years.

I see people talking about bio-androids and I literally just rolled my eyes...That, is what I call grasping at straws.

It's sad that people actually have to have an explanation as to why the main protagonist isn't an Android.

I think it's because in some twisted way, it allows them to wave off the fact that they start married with a kid.

A. Radiation affects electronics. Though, I suppose it could be a consideration for the Institute.

B. If harkness is any indication, I should think that some chems might work. Though probably not so far as stimpacks healing a crippled metal radius and/or ulna.

He could be a cyborg, not a full android.

I think that's the ambience they're trying to create. The poster 50s household, kind of a joke and over the top.

The PC will not be an android, and 1 piece of evidence makes this very clear to me. Bethesda added voice to make the character more human, improve the narrative, and to engage the player in higher emotional attachment and empathy. To then make the sole survivor a machine makes zero sense.

Impressive amounts of passive-aggressiveness accompany random theorizing on these forums.

Haha off topic but probably 90% or more people who know those words couldn't tell you the difference without a guess :P

I like this theorising stuff. Beth fans really are the best in the world. So many like to really sink their teeth into [censored], for good or bad.

I think what people mean when they say that is that your spouse/kids brain was mapped and compiled and then shunted into an android's braincase. It least that's what I assume they mean when they say 'turned into an android.'
