Why so upset with Xbox 360 support?

Post » Tue Jan 04, 2011 5:33 pm

Obviously, people are upset, namely the PC gamers that wait in anticipation of this game. I can understand why some people are "Up-In-Arms" over the recent decisions for Crysis 2. But you need to understand the reasoning on either the part of Crytek or EA. With Crysis finally appearing on the consoles they have the ability to reach millions of more gamers world-wide and establish themselves as a well recognized series. The move to release the demo on the Xbox 360, I believe, is do to a contractual agreement between EA and Microsoft. Much like the Call of Duty series is under contract to release it's content first on the 360 before the other platforms receive it. Crysis 2 is probably under this same type of agreement.

Crytek has experience with their system on the PC already but none of which on the consoles. What better way to do this than release a demo to the masses in order to work out any kinks. And who's to say PC users wont receive the demo at all. They could just be contractually bound to not release any information for a set time-frame.

Oh, you mean like how they also released a demo for the Playstation 3? Any way you look at it, it's inexcusable. Crytek begging for money from Microsoft doesn't justify the situation.

Crytek isnt PR ing the game hark.

EA is. EA determines demo release date and everything surrounding that. Crytek probably said that its fine for that but has something to make up for later. EA just sees it as "Lets get this out into people right away".

People are acting like Crytec owes something to PC gamers. They don't owe anything. You didn't have to buy their games. If anything, you owe them your support(If you liked their previous game). I definitely liked their previous game so I am going to support them until I play a game I don't like.

Yet again, it is EA responsible for screwing over all other platforms. I may be a 360 owner and of course I am happy I get to play the demo, I do 100% agree with all other people. It doesn't seem fair the PS3 and PC users don't get to try the game out themselves. But with contracts and using this as a test on the consoles theres nothing anyone could really do. And yet again, there still could be a demo in line for the rest of the gamers here.

You have a twisted perception of reality. Why do people owe blind loyalty to a company that does not cater to them at all? They have a right to expect something from a company they have brought into success. Crytek owes something to the millions of PC gamers that have allowed every one of their games to be multi-million sellers. Without its fans, Crytek is nothing.

I think they want to enter the world of console mega bucks. But they seem to forget its a double edged sword, what's the average lifespan of a game on xbox like a year max?

i will tell you why we are so Upset with the xbox360 Support but most with Crytek/EA

1st : they say that supports all the cumminity of crytek , that means we need to have all a beta and Demo , not only the xbox360 , because in community we have pc gamers and ps3 gamers too ! NOT only the F****** Xbox360 !

2nd : Many peoples Pre-order the game , they wait a demo to see with theyr own eye how the gameplay is ! who knows maybe they will buy it and not like the game at all .
Or the ywill not because the ydont know how the gameplay IS

3rd : They Put xbox360 always first because i am sure Microsoft pay them FOR GOOD
to make a deal , so the xbox360 get the most sales ! as a consoles , you know that is dying right ? Xbox360 will be saved from the Crysis 2 and the Gears of War 3 ! No.. Always the mone yfirst ALWAYS of EVERYTHING this means Bussines ! the ydont care what we will say

Now if you was an PC gamer you wouldnt be Upset ??

You mean with your RROD, little kids screaming over xbox live, and graphics that will be horrible compared to the PC's, you **** controller that have nothing on my keyboard and mouse, do you know why we don't have pc gamers vs console gamers on xbox live? Because the pc will win, we have the advantage of better hardware, and a better interface, my gaming mouse moves at 5001 dpi, xbox 360 controllers are at 72 dpi, that means that I can turn 69.4583 times faster then you can, do you know why we can do this. It's because new hardware for gaming computers come out every 3 months, consoles are updated every 3 years. So yes, I am a happy gamer right now, because no matter what, the pc will be better then the console.

Disclaimer: I am not a console gamer, I am a PC gamer.

Anyway, Did Crysis or Warhead even sell in millions? The reason for the moving to console was the fact that Crysis didn't sell as much as they expected. They blamed it on piracy.

Imo, EA are making a good decision with the Crysis 2 Demo being exclusive to the Xbox 360. Its clearly obvious that the Xbox 360 is the most successful console in terms of game sales & console popularity. Most games that are multi-platform seem to sell best on the Xbox 360.

Seeing the success of Call Of Duty on the Xbox 360. EA probably see that there is more money to be made from the Xbox 360 community, hence why they have decided to promote the game on this console and give them exclusives, to make the game recognised and liked so that it will be successful thus making Crysis 2 more mainstream and possibly be almost or as equally successful as the Call Of Duty games, well I'd image that this would be what EA's aiming for.

Well actually, Crysis sold more than 3 million copies and Warhead sold more than 1.5 million copies. Considering that these are games that had the reputation of being hard to run and that these games were PC exclusives, they managed to sell more than most other games. It sold more than Far Cry 2, which was released on THREE platforms and did not have the reputation of being hard to run.

Also, EA did a poor job of advertising the original Crysis. Did they even bother advertising on TV? If so, I never saw it.

The only chance Crytek really had to get the big push Crysis 2 needs on the consoles to be popular was to sign under some BIG company with experience in the console market. Unfortunately they signed with EA, anyone would have been better than them, even Activision. I mean even if you look at the Playstation 3, EA has a terrible track record on the console as well. The reason why PS3 gamers don't have Private Chat is because EA games are usually made pourly and EA refused to put in these features and are threatening to end their contract with Sony if they require games to incorporate Private Chat.

Bottom line; EA has, and always will, svck!

Wow, nice to see that the game sold so many, it makes Crytek look stupid for saying the sales didn't meet their expectations when 3 million is a HIGH number!

If I remember right, EA didn't even advertise Crysis, well, definitely not in the UK anyway. I'd imagine it would've sold so much more if it did!

I hope there will be TV advertisemants for Crysis 2. I really want to see this game sell well and be liked!

Seriously? EA seem to be the only decent publisher right now!

Activision are evil, they force yearly sequels and bully the developers.

Ubisoft do the same, they also stick the worst DRM of all time in all of their PC games and release all PC versions later on purpose just to boost console sales.

Eidos.. shall I bother? They went bankrupt because no one was buying their **** games, they forced Tomb Raider developers 'Crystal Dynamics' to create yearly Tomb Raider games and they messed up. Hence why Eidos were bought over by Square Enix.

1. Also, if you think about it, crysis 2 multyplayer had a beta on xbox in the first place to test the power because the xbox is WEAK (i am an xbox gamer). So crytek decides to pretty much just open up the beta for xbox to get more intrest in the game, and make more money (that is why they make these games remember).

2. Microsft threw money

Well, I wouldn't make an excuse like that... If Crytek wanted to test Crysis 2 on the xbox 360 because it is weak, then they could've easily done it themselves. They are just trying to promote the game, that is all really. I honestly see nothing wrong with it.

Crytek are developers.
EA are publishers.
Both seek profit regardless of how important the quality of the product matters to them, profit will be what matters most or else they wouldn't be here.

Can you blame EA for trying to promote the game? Can you blame Crytek for allowing it? They just want the game to be successful and if they think that giving the Xbox 360 users exclusives is a way of doing it then I'd say go ahead.

Thats just my opinion though, don't overreact.

Most are not so much sad as resigned to thinking crysis 2 will svck more balls than a 5 pence hoker. Generally the best thing to do when a game goes 360 crazy :) Hopefully it'll be fine though.

To be honest, when Crytek said, "PS3 will be the lead platform" you would think that they would at least show Crysis 2 (demo, screenshots or something) on the PS3. I don't think that anyone has seen anything about this game running on the PS3. So for EA and Crytek to decide that they will release a Beta (just for the 360) and now a actual demo for the said console, what are PC and PS3 owner who are equally looking forward to this game for their system suppose to think? I own all the above but it seems to be a kick in the teeth for PC and PS3 owners who want to play this game for the system they own. I don't hate 360 for this but come on Crytek and EA... give everyone what they want and lets put an end to this exclusivity rubbish! We are all looking forward to this game since it was announced for consoles and this is what they do... treat one bunch of owners and not the other. Very sad indeed... this isn't the way to make more sales from both console and PC owners. People are already cancelling their PS3 pre-orders because they are worried about the quality of the PS3 version due to the no showing aspect of it and all the 360 demos etc...
