So...why was LR delayed?

Post » Sat Aug 27, 2011 7:03 am

Now that we have a release date, can we know the reason why it was delayed? I haven't seen anyone address the question so far.

Don't get me wrong, I was thrilled to see something like the Gun Runners DLC and to get release dates. But I still am curious to know, what caused the delay?

It was Legion raiding parties.

I kinda care. If it was because of technical issues, like with the release of Dead Money, then I'll probably hold off on downloading the DLC for about a week to let the forums fury inspire the release of a patch to fix game crashing bugs.
However, if it was all due to some twit in marketing screwing up on the adverts, well then I'll line up with the rest to download on opening day. I hate waiting, but experience has taught me to be cautious until the rest of the community seems relatively pleased with a new DLC's performance.

All we know was that the delay was beyond their control (roughly Bergman's words).

Unfortunately this is not something we're ever going to be able to talk about. It happens.

It wasn't for technical reasons, and it had nothing to do with GRA/Courier's Stash being ready (we were days away from announcing those when the delay hit).

What's important now is that you have final release dates. Whee!

Not too much, no. But seeing as other dlcs had an explanation as to why it was delayed, I figured it was a good question to ask.

edit: Thanks for the response Jason.

Nice, knowing it wasn't for problems on the development end of things, now I'm planning to download the first day. Now I just have to think of a good excuse to take that day off, I think if I use another "distant but liked relative's untimely demise", they'll realize I had the same excuse twice in the past year and will begin to suspect my tall tale telling.

Well since they said "events beyond our control", obviously it isn't a development problem since bugs aren't beyond their control. Probably a marketing issue between Bethesda and Obsidian or Bethesda and the XBOX or Steam marketplace guys.
