Why wasn't there any launch DLCs?

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 3:10 am

I have been wondering why we didn't get any DLCs for the launch of the game.

Fallout New Vegas had Courier's Stash and Gun Runners right from the start.

It would have been nice to get some starter gear for Fallout 4.

Bc people hate those and NV wasn't a Bethesda game so it's semi-irrelevant

If I recall correctly, those were released about a whole year after New Vegas came out. Pre-ordering the game got you a special small bonus from each individual retailer, and one year later when the Gun Runner's Arsenal DLC was released they also released Courier's Stash which included all 4 pre-order bonuses into one package. So really only 1/4 of the Courier's Stash was available day 1 unless you bought multiple copies from different retailers.

Because Day One DLC should be in the base game.

And so it is.

Yup, i see it as "Thank you for not being EA" more than "why aren't you being more greedy and [censored]-like?"

Because they are not EA, the game its supposed to bring over 100 hours of gameplay for me thats good, DLC will be adding more features and areas to the game, I just Hope they revive the Zeta's or something creepy like the think tank or even the master, something like the sons of the master or the disciples something memorable like that.

Agreed. The trend of day 1 DLC is terrible and it's also terrible that other developers have now conditioned players to accept this, nay, expect it, as the new normal.

I feel like it lowers our standards for a base game to expect day 1 DLC. DLC should enhance the base game after we've all played it x hours\days\months, not be a cash grab on top of the original purchase.

Why is there not

Why is there

honestly its up to the developer... quite frankly its never needed and its just a deal the developer has with stores to drive sales at those locations...

Nothing more nothing less...

well ok, the game is generally far less off due to Day 1 since it locks part of the launch content, meaning you have to pay even more to get everything you expect on a brand new game.

No, it didn't have. GRA was released almost a year after the game. Courier's Stash just put together all the pointless preorder bonuses and was released along GRA.

And it is very, VERY good thing Bethesda doesn't do tiny DLCs or day 1 nonsense. Doing things like that gives a greedy impression of the publisher/developer. Beth wants to give a complete game and DLCs to be meaningful expansions.

^ 100% This Bethesda Game Studios and CD Projekt RED are 2 video game companies that don't do day 1 DLC's and should sell or do sell expansion packs.

We don't want Horse Armor DLC's sold again.
