Why Were Walls added to New Vegas Strip?

Post » Thu Apr 08, 2010 5:09 pm

This may be a little late but, I was just recently re-watching the E3 video of New Vegas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28EFHmQedPo where there were no divides in the strip. Was there performance issues? And if most of these are supposed to be addressed in the new patch does that mean the walls may be removed?

It was a performance issue apparently. The complete strip presumably had some frame rate issues on low end PCs and the consoles.

It won't be changed in a patch due to the nav meshing, scripts and other bits and bobs all being set up for the divided strip. It's not a great deal of work to change, but it's the sort of thing thats outside the scope of a patch.

We've had http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1179629-the-strip-pre-release discussion not long ago, it even contains a link to a mod that removes the walls.

I am on the Xbox 360 unfortunately =(. I would pay Microsoft $10 just to get access to mods.
