Why will you buy skyrim? Or why not?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:13 am

I'll buy it, because Bethesda Game Studios has proven to me, time and time again, that they are capable of making the best games around. There is just no other studio that even comes close. I've played a lot of games out there, but the three games I've spent the most time on are Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3. All from the same studio. They have a great track record, and I expect Skyrim to be a huge success. Not only do I love the series, I love the direction its going.

Plus I really like the lore.

Stupid reasons?

Yes stupid reasons as in veiny arms and skimpy armor go look at the elven armor and tell me thats skimpy(I made a thread about that myself but then i looked closer at the stuff we have seen so far). Not to mention all the : 0mG ! w4Ntz ObLivion 2!!! or the 0mG ! w4Ntz m0rr0wind 2!!!

I won't. The coding in tes is dreadful. Theyre to damn lazy to even a werewolf. Time management is failing..todd sounds like he's 18. Theyre just svckling money and leaving the community to do the work. Its not at all realistic and not enough rpg style features like stats and numbers. Even semi scaling to ensure you always get a challenge. And no darn horse riding which they say isn't paying off. due to all of this the money to gameplay ratio is extremely low.

Pathetic...

After buying the Fallout 3 GOTY edition, which came fully patched with all the DLCs, I won't buy any Bethesda title anymore unless it's the GOTY edition. I won't download additional content, aside from user made mods, and it's great being able to play a game without having to ever bother with any patches. I haven't bought Fallout New Vegas yet either for that same reason. Especially after reading about all the bugs that were in the game on release day. It sounds like Skyrim is going to be on an even larger scale so it's bound to be riddled with all sorts of bugs when it first comes out. And by that time the modding community should be well established, with a number of good works available.

I'm buying it because I loved Oblivion and Morrowind. And from what I've been seeing and reading so far; it looks good as hell.

I will buy it, simply because it is the best looking and most promising RPG this year.

It will be my SP fix so to speak simply due to I am gettin 1 maybe 2 other titles this year which are FPS games and we all know they don't have anywhere near the re-play value as this game.

If they implement dismemberment and don't have an option to disable it, I won't buy it until a dismemberment-disabling mod is released.

If they include sixual acts in the game, I won't buy it no matter what.

Otherwise, I will buy it, hopefully off of Steam.

Not a fan of Fallout I take it...

So i found quite a bit of people here that will NOT buy skyrim for stupid reasons and such, so why will you buy skyrim? Or why not?

My honest opinion is that 80% of people registered on this forum will buy it, and the remaining 20% will pirate it. Very few people on this forum will not be getting the game at all.

I'm practically sold on a pre-order already. About the only thing that can make me not buy it is if it requires Steam.

If I don't get it it will most likely be due to Steamworks

The biggest reason for most people is whether or not its gonna require Steam, which is stupid. If you're a fan of the series you'll get no matter what, even if it was made from the skin of dead babies.

For me, I don't see my self not getting it unless the worst should happen, Bethesda changing their game developing philosophy.

I respect that you like Steam but there are some of us that just can't use Steam for whatever reason, that doesn't mean we're not fans of the series, just not fans of what the publisher is doing lately.

Why in the world would they do something like that? This is Bethesda we're talking about!

Sure there'll be gore, there always is, that's why they get the mature rating. That and the game is modable and user content is a little racy at times.

Oh, I fergit. I am going to buy this one, and probably every other game these guys make until I die or they go under. I don't see them going under, and I got a few years left in me, so it'll likely be a while.

I think the majority of those people were being sarcastic by saying "If SR doesnt have X (ie, otters) I will not buy it!".

I'm going to buy SR for sure, even if it doesnt have otters which I'd like to see very very much!

I bought it months ago. Just waiting on delivery.

I have neither seen nor heard anything, so far, that made me question the purchase.

Yep, I will be getting it - hopefully off Steam, although it will be good to get the boxed version with the goodies in as well.
