why wont people run my stores...

Post » Fri Jan 29, 2016 10:50 pm

ive got 2 different stores in my settlement right now, a weapons store and a clinic, the person i assigned to the clinic is there, but the person i assigned to run my weapons store, is never there.... am i doing something wrong, when i enter the workshop mode, it shows that somebody is assigned to it and when i bring the person i assigned to it close enough, when i highlight them, it shows that they are assigned to it, but they are never there running it

Im not sure except to say that some shops have different hours of operation. And they seem to take breaks also. Dress the one that is always missing in a baseball uniform or something so u can spot him easily then go to wherever he is and u can trade and buy from him even if he isnt at the shop stand. I know it gets kinda frustrating :D

frustrating aint the half of it, lol, they need to make a way to be able to tell you what a settler is taking care of, i spent an hour playing hit and miss with different settlers assigning them to the stand only to find that the settler i assigned was already assigned to something else

Try re-assign him or assign someone else and don't forget to kill them in the backyard. LOL

lol, ive tried assigning 3 different settlers to my weapons shop, ive spent 2 entire "days" hanging around my settlement checking on my shop, nobody is ever there

edit... ive seen people hating on the settlement aspect of this game, i personally love it, one thing i always hated about the previous games was that a lot of the scrap you could find, didnt have any kind of real use

not to mention the weapon modding! lol

I understand the weapons store settler can be glitched (always has been for me)

they will barter, but will not stand at their stall.

I also understand that is addressed in the upcoming patch.

The other stores appear to work fine and I trade an appropriate outfit for the settler to wear.

The bar is tended by someone in a tux & bowler or red dress

The clothes store, a clean suit or laundered dress

Armorer: Harness & armor pieces

Medic in a lab coat * (* which must be traded and worn before assigning them)

Naturally they only go there 9.00am-10.00pm

As mentioned above, this is a fairly common bug. My weapons vendor never used to actually go to the booth. I'm running the beta patch now, and the issue was fixed as soon as I installed it. No word yet on when the full release will be though.

ah, thank you both key and curt, i hadnt really thought of changing the person's outfit (plenty of those) to make them more easily recognizable

edit... still wish they would make an easy way to tell which settlers are already taking care of something like crops or something, it got annoying earlier when i planted a bunch of mutfruit plants to make getting adhesive easier

Pfft. That's just boring. Put them all in power armor. Nothing like getting that little cut above your eye tended to by a doctor in full raider power armor.

That is in the current beta patch, so it's on the way.

Same strategy with crops.

I exclusively dress my crop growers in Long Johns and plant clusters of 6 Mutfruit for each one (who needs vegetable variety when you have those :-)

Oh and my Provisioners get Postman uniforms/hats (need enough T3 clothes shops in your settlements to have enough of those).

Also check out the positioning of your shop stand. Make sure your dumb settler found a way to get it there.

And you may want to reload the shop stand by putting it in workshop and replace it. Or maybe even try to destroy it and make new.

take a mining helmet, mod it with a bright light, put it on your provisioners. makes them easy to spot in the wastelands. i put tuxes on all my merchants. very easy to spot them in a crowd.

a lot of lessons learned and i should have thought of that myself for my 2nd character, if i ever get to him/her, lol, game time is almost at 2 days after only owning the game for 5, there is so much to do and explore in the game without really touching the main story quest

Same here i selected certain people because i had no idea how it worked, i assigned them waited till it said they were assigned, took forever for them to wak to the store, they got there and stood for a moment and walked away, i am now forever reassigning new people to the stores, but same thing happens.
