Well. in order to keep servers running they have to make money somehow, even after everyone buys it. There is also no need of getting bored because after a few months they might add Expansions and more things to do. Like most mmo's

It really is...It just gets old about the f2p [censored] . Think we all just want our solid p2p experience back haha
Lets not go there.
Each of these games also had tons of people defending them in the forums , even more before the launch , the simple fact is , that did not stop them from going F2P eventually.
Im a huge fan of the TES franchise since Morrowind , like tons of others here , but i was going to just skip this game because of the sub fee , i now got to try it because i do have friends who want me there with them , i do hope the game is THAT good actually , but i doubt it is.
The Pay-to-Play model is usually the number one issue with newer MMOs. And the complaints aren't always without merit. The 14.99 price also appears to be the standard, while this price is not unreasonable to some extent, developers must take into consideration that the majority of their player base is teenagers to young advlts who may not necessarily have the largest disposable income and yet have been strong supporters of the Elder Scrolls series in the past. With many of the revolutionary ideas coming out of this MMO, Zenimax could add to their list the first mainstream MMO to be $9.99 a month; to be on a similar price field as other online entertainment like Netflix and Hulu.
Just a thought, I see the points of both sides.

Because $15/month is so little money it doesnt matter to most of us.
Your cheapness does not affect Zenimax's business model or other players desire to play.
You don't want to pay it? Don't.

Im more then happy to pay for the game and then a subfee i dont get you people... what is 15 a month anyways. 2-3 drinks at the local pub/bar or 1 movie at the movie theater, or 2 pizzas skip this once a moth and you have the subfee, i dont know if you do any of this once a moth but i do know that 15 is pritty cheap for unlimited entertainment for 30 days.
Because MMO's save me money. My bar tab over the weekend is minimum 400 dollars.
Why would you expect to not pay monthly? Really. I been playing and paying since Ultima Online came out. Sure there are games you can play for free, but you get what you pay for. Myself I prefer a premium game and to get that someone has to pay for the upfront and the monthly cost to keep it going.
I'll be paying it. My primary reason is I hope it keeps out all the immature f2p players I've seen infiltrate the MMO industry since f2p became popular. I also like having the content regularly updated. If they go nuts with the cash store then I would rethink my position, but so far it seems they aren't going crazy with it. $15/month just doesn't seem like a lot of money compared to other things we spend money on. I don't go out and drink alcohol or coffee, that eliminates $4-5 per pop, probably more at starbucks or a decent bar.
I don't get why $15 is such a big deal. I don't mean to sound calluous and understand everyones financial situation may be different. But heck just going to see a movie by yourself and buying some popcorn and a soda is going to cost you $25. Being able to play a MMO unlimited if you wanted to for $15 with developers regularly updating the content seems like a heck of a good deal to me.
Oh no, my stance on the game of pre-ordering the imp edition and being excited about this has been swayed to cancelling it, because they are right! This game isn't worth an extra $15/month!
Not only will I pay, but I want to pay. Free MMO's are sub standard in pretty much every way.
But, take it or leave it. It's not going to change, Skyrim was a great game but it is not an mmo. Subscriptions are there to finance further development of a game. It means a living world that changes constantly. Well worth the fee.
I think it's because gamers, as a consumer base, have a rare combination of extreme entitlement coupled with meager financial resources.
Developers/publishers explore F2P models because they think they can get MORE money out of players that way, not less.
If we had a true F2P and robust cash shop, these same players would be on here complaining what a scam it is that all the good stuff is behind a cash wall.
You must either drink out of diamond studded golden slippers or have a liver that's about to give up the ghost.
Exactly. I could seriously walk around my house right now and find $15 by checking pockets, drawers, furniture, etc.
Because its worth it, if you think it isnt then you dont. Very simple.
In nice bars/clubs in big cities its very common for beers to be $10 each, cocktails $15-20 each, throw %20 gratuity on that and its easier than you'd think to do.
Not to even speak of getting bottle service at a table.... hundreds of dollars per bottle.
I was all set to pay but your compelling and eloquent point by point report on the evils of $15 sub fees has convinced me otherwise
Seriously though...this game has been announced as a sub game for quite a while. Why is anyone still outraged or questioning this? Heck I was paying almost $20/month for SW: TOR up until last month when I let my sub lapse in favor of ESO. It's no big deal. Taking my wife to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier next weekend for all 210 minutes or so equates to 2 months of play time.
I am going to pay monthly for it because I really enjoy it.
It is more expensive than Skyrim, but Skyrim also isn't an online game. I can't play Skyrim with my friends. Skryim didn't include costs for customer service and server upkeep.
So there are different circumstances. This game gives me things that one can't, like community and PvP.
Ultimately everyone has their reasons and you just need to decide for yourself whether or not you're willing to pay the price they're asking. I do feel for you and I'm not sure I don't prefer a microtransaction model myself. But complaining about it isn't going to get them to change it. As long as there are enough people willing to pay to play, they'll keep this system.
I will keep paying as long as ZOS keeps releasing engaging content that is worth the money I pay for the subscription. The moment that I am not engaged and I have nothing else to do, is the moment that I will quit this game.
I think this is true for most people here.
I agree with the OP.......NOT.
What I did do,......... is buy 2 copies of the retail imperial version, and will happily pay.....not $15.00 per month, but only $14.99 now Australia & NZ can pay in AUD$.
Instant savings already
And I get a set of book Molag Bol book ends ....What more could you ask for.
Glad your not on my marketing forecast team OP
This exactly. F2P has it's place I supose but every online game must generate revenue somehow, and whatever means they do it always offends somone who thinks they should be able to get services for free.
We must protect our loved ones (aka ESO)!
