Because not everyone is like you. I like the thrill of the hunt, someone else likes to relax and take it easy, and that doesnt work well in pvp.
If you want to stop the anti-pvp nonsense, you gotta be more open minded than pvp haters.
Are you serious? The anti-PvP nonsense as you call it makes as much sense as your particular question.
have you ever heard the idea that folks are entitled to their own opinions? If folks want to PvE all day what gives you the right to call them names or question their desires? And that argument can be reversed to say why would any PvE only individual give a darn what PvP players care about with regards to their chosen desires.
The fact that the 2 are separate should remove all complaints from both sides.
besides the level 10 requirement on PvP the 2 camps should be happy they are separate.
Why would you even bother to question the mentality of a person who does not see PvP as entertaining to them? Whats the point of your question? To me this type of question only promotes flame wars between the 2 camps.
Personally I find questing, especially when done in long dosses to be quite boring, but that does not mean someone else might find it extremely entertaining.
I'd much rather not die as a whole O_o
See I'm just not into this jovial tough love and competition sorta vibe from PvP. It happens sometimes in PvE but at the end of the day in PvE everybody in your raid (in a good one, at least) knows that they're [censored] without everybody else there so respect kinda has to be mutual, and you gotta show the love to people you dislike as well. Whereas in PvP...well, you can do that XD
A lot of things have already been covered:
Lots of people aren't against PvP, they just prefer PvE more.
The general sociopathic-ness of many of the players in PvP -it's actually not that many, but they are the ones you remember, so..
PvP is in general more fast-paced and unpredictable than PvE, and some people prefer to play in a more laid-back style. I think most of us do at least some of the time.
For myself, I do like to PvP, at least in ESO. I hated it in WoW, and completely despised it in UO (at release). However, AvA/WvW/RvR style PvP is not really anything like the unrestricted always-on PK-ers paradise of a game like pre-Trammel UO, and it's nothing like the small team PvP in WoW battlegrounds or GW2 sPvP that is all based on some contrived ruleset, like capture the flag or conquest.
In Cyrodiil, I feel like I"m part of a massive Army that's fighting in a massive battle. The numbers aren't always even (never, really), and in many cases, the circumstances aren't fair -one side is inside a keep while the other is exposed in the open. Although, there's a lot to be said about open-field battles, too. They can be quite exciting.
To anyone who typically doesn't like to PvP, I want to encourage your to give it a try in ESO. If you've never played this kind of epic Army vs Army siege warfare type of PvP, I think you'll be amazed at how little it has in common with the PvP you've experienced in other games. You owe it to yourself to at least give it a chance. If you don't you'll be missing out on some of the greatest fun to be found in MMOs. If you give it a fair shot and still don't like it, you can just not come back again. However, I think a good percentage of you will find that it's a heck of a lot more fun than you thought it would be.
because i dont care about politics.
i will definately be in pvp, i just wont be very concerned about the stupid rvr
This is an MMO based off of an extremely popular RPG series. Many of the people who will be playing will be somewhat often-to-hardcoe role playing. While it is completely possible to role play in PVP, some people just enjoy the PVE experience more because questing offers the lore and story aspects with which to build their RP around, and just adventuring leaves a whole open world with which to write your own stories with your friends. PVP can be fun in RP, but it is hard to dismiss anti-RP behavior of others- you can't just 'turn off' the players that aren't RPing with you, so it's more distracting and immersion breaking.
To each their own.
Oh I will definitely be playing in Cyrodiil, I just disagree with the default answer of the illusion about non-scripted players offering more of a challenge.
Surprisingly it is easier to avoid aggro as a healer in PvP than PvE, which is mainly how I get my lulz. Because you know there is that one guy on the other side yelling at his zerg in full caps to target me, and you know it is him because he is the one guy that will deathcharge into my zerg to try and get to me, yet his zerg goes on zergin' Extremely lulzy. If this is the "challenge" of pvp, to get your zerg to work together towards a common goal, this "difficulty" is really no different than pve.
Then you consider all the potential imbalances: faction numbers, average gear levels, guilds vs. randoms, etc...
Sure, I will play in Cyrodiil, but I will never take it seriously, because it simply cannot be taken seriously. It is a joke, an often fun distraction at times, but still a joke.
This thread sounds too much a "pvp players are better than pve players" thread in disguise.
Not the kind of argument we need to attract more players to pvp.
To pve players i can only say: not every pvper is like the OP, plenty of us are welcoming and willing to help rookies. Give it a try.
There is a simple answer for this, which is the reason many of my friends and past guild friends haven't wanted to PvP;
You can PvE on your own terms; you pick the setting, who you're going to fight and when. With PvP you can quite easily find yourself either out of your depth or stuck in something you're not comfortable with. There's also a steep learning curve for PvP.
That being said; sometimes real people appear more scripted than NPC. I've seen real players come at me with the same boring set of attacks again and again; on the flipside I've also seen NPC encounters do unexpected things and completely catch me off guard. Don't be so quick to think that scripted means easy.
You like the PvP community when you are like them, people with hormonal disorder, psychopathology and acne. But when you become an advlt (not on the paper, in the mind) who respects himself and others, you can't bear anymore that PvP community. It's really shame because if you like competitive gaming you have to make with its ugly side too, like I did, even if I never liked it.
So, yes, despite I was a very competitive player, I'll only PvE in TESO. If I want any PvP, I'll play Chess or Poker IRL.
Reminds me of http://images.gameskinny.com/gameskinny/caebc6eb98e89cc63fd5fc8d6cb9071e.jpg.
Yes, and I'm still not interested. I'm not interested in competition.
as a dark elf i am kin to high elves, i hate my own alliance but i will not be leaving ebonheart pact. i dont care for nords, a dead khajiit = 1 less slave = prety stupid since i need them for my dark elf!
the allinaces are stupid and like others said its Lore breaking and basicly a joke at this point. and then add in the ability to purchase a race in any alliance just enhances the stupidity of the entire rvr. not to mention it feels like its star wars rvr.
No offense, but you don't sound very much like an advlt "who respects himself and others" when you say things like "people with hormonal disorder, psychopathology and acne".
For me pvp is a side activity…. something to go do one evening cause it sounds fun. I expect to spend most of my time in pve with my husband doing quests, following stories, exploring. The game world is huge and I want to see every last cave in every zone.
You find pve boring and repetitive yet that's how I feel about pvp. Crazy, right?
I know and I'm not proud of that, but it's a truth sadly.
I'll quote myself from my last post on Massively:
I guess the goals in Cyrodiil are more globally forced on you than in PVE..while Cyrodiil is still a big place to explore,I take it that can conflict with PVPers because they will not let you explore on your terms when you want to.
A more action based pvp, where positioning is important, would be cool though..Pvp with fog of war elements
There have been a surprising number of people that have either never PvP'd before or have been totally against it that have completely changed their minds after trying the PvP in Cyrodiil.
My suggestion would be to try it a few times even if you have preconceived notions of PvP from stories or other games.
is it like dark messiah?where the element of destruction comes into place also in the environment?
