Why 5 years in development?

Post » Thu Aug 25, 2011 12:43 pm

Yeah, it was doomed from the start. They took a character that was loved because he was an immature [censored] with no intellect whatsoever, used 1999's technology to start it, tech progressed so they had to scrap some ideas, and then eventually just threw the crap together and hoped that the long-ass development time would make it famous and sell well.

Bethesda isn't a group of mentally challenged gorillas, so they may be able to pull Skyrim off.

MAY be able to.

HEY! Don't say nufin' bad 'bout Gearbox, I loved Borderlands

Not saying anything bad about Gearbox. Just that they're mentally challenged gorillas. Gorillas are [censored] awesome.

The fact that you just insulted one of my favorite developers seems to be blocked out by how hilarious that post was

The SR timeline:

6 months spent feverishly making the game

1 year spent trashing attributes, trying to figure out how to stitch together character development without them, making perks that are nothing more than attributable effects, and gutting/combining skills to deal with the duplicate perks problem

1 year spent on making the beautifully rendered, yet pointless, item images.

1 year on making dragon flatulence, realizing it was lame, and resorting to dragon screeching

1 year debating rationalizations for excluding so much content from the game

6 moths spent feverishly finishing the game

They admitted to wait until the next console to release, but then they finally decided to not wait any longer and use the xbox 360 to it's fullest potential. As a developer favorite, and the console with the lowest quality (compared to the ps3 and pc) it makes sense for them to release images and videos of the 360s performance. I can't wait until the next gen is out to see how good the sixth installment can be.

They've only been doing it for three years... I assure you, if only they would be able to work on this game for another two it would be much, MUCH, better. Alas, at that point, that silly XBOX will probably see a new incarnation or at least an announcement of one.

I just hope that Bethesda will stark working on the Elder Scrolls: VI right after Skyrim, they owe it to us!! They'll probably start to work on Fallout 4 instead, though.

Those 2 years of planning certainly didn't go to waste, so they count. Skyrim is 5 years in development.

But yet the "whys" of why it's gonna be amazing haven't been repeated enough. Plus, we have no idea of how much is actually in the game because they haven't told nearly all of it.

Everyone knows it's going to be amazing.

It's just so obvious that people don't need to talk about it! :)
