Dunno. Maybe they thought about it but didn't really have time to put it in, Skyrim's wasn't exactly great. Most likely because it was rushed.

You can be forced to marry in Fallout 2. But as for why we can't fall in love and get married is because Fallout isn't the [censored] Sims!

Because it's pointless and not what Fallout is about.

Because it's a waste of time and resources to implement something that wouldn't contribute to the game's theme or gameplay, not to mention it wouldn't fit. I mean let's put this into perspective: How does marriage fit in a series where you always play as a drifting loner who travels across a war torn post-apocalyptic world rife with moral relativity?

why would you want to get married anyways? no one is thinking about marriage in the mojave wasteland. people are just hoping they live to see another day. six is the closest thing to love in this game which makes sense.

Because your character forgot how to marry in Fallout: New Vegas. That bit where Benny shot him/her in the head was bound to screw something up in there.

Seriously, though. Who says you can't roleplay that the Courier does marry? Unless my memory fails me, we never play the same character in all of the Fallout games. They've all been different people, so whose to say that after the game's ending (providing he/she survived of course), your Courier didn't settle down in Novac or Goodsprings and eventually got married? In my headcanon, my Courier eventually settles down in Novac and marries one of the settlers there.

Though Talonfire does have a point. The theme of our characters is that he/she is some random person that found him/herself in a community on the verge of change in a nuclear wasteland, and he/she soon finds out that he/she play a key part in that event, and soon must fight for his/her life. Settling down and having a family probably isn't at the forefront of his/her thoughts during the game.
