Why do you have to be 18 to view the website?

As of June 27th 2011, In the case of http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/10pdf/08-1448.pdf it was ruled by the Supreme Court that it is still unconstitutional to prohibit the sale of a video game based on AGE in the United States. The ratings are the SUGGESTED player age. Just saying this because it's annoying to have to put my birthday in every time I go to the site. So, if a 13 year old can buy it, why can't he go read about it on the site? I am 26, so I'm not just a teenager whining about it not being fair. It actually isn't fair and I was wondering why.

How is it not fair? You're an advlt, if what you say is true, it's not hard to put in your birthday. Anyway, it doesn't matter what the recommended age is. Online it's restricted age so a child can't view it accidentally.

Irrelevant anyway. Only a completely developmentally-challenged kid wouldn't just lie to the stupid thing. It's not like it could keep even a 6-yo out if they want in.

Very true. Anyone can put in any age ... it's just a sop to the people who think that if a child is exposed to anything other than lollipops and cartoons, their childhood innocence will evaporate.

It's a security measure that doesn't work and is easily circumvented, so why keep it? Maybe it's some sort of regulation? Who knows?!
