Why do you need your character to be attractive?

Or to put it another way: Do you feel your character's attractiveness is important to you?

As you consider this question, I'd also like to consider how much time you spend in character creation, downloading and installing mods that overhaul how your character and NPCs look, and why. How does controlling an attractive character improve your experience? Could you ever see yourself playing an ugly character for an extended period?

If you download mods, I'd also like to know specifically what mods you personally use, if you're comfortable giving that information. There is a wide range, so it is useful to understand your idea of what is attractive, since opinions and tastes vary widely.

Even if you don't feel your character needs to be attractive, I'd like to hear from you. Why don't you feel your character needs to be attractive, at least all of the time?

I'm totally attracted to all of my Male Khajiit characters :)

but yeah, if I'm given to choose what my character looks like, might as well make them look cool, or reflective of their personality. :o

I spend a decent amount of time on Character creation, I know I do mess with every meter rather than like everyone else who just focuses on the main things.

I can play an ugly character, if that's what he/she was meant to be. also I'm on Xbox so I got nothing to do with Mods.

I try to make my character fit into the Role/RP I have in mind for them, while some of them can be considered rough... I dont think I have ever made an ugly character.

The only mode I use affecting characters is http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2356/? which doesnt change anything, only smooths out the facial mesh on the checks and noses, and increases their resolution (i loved Skyrim's Mer, and am an outspoken advocat of unique Mer, not those boring "pretty" elves.)

Hmm, I'll try to add a few pictures of my characters

I feel my character's appearance is important, yes. I usually try to fit my characters with a pre-concieved image in my mind when I fumble around with their story.

In general I focus on making the character plain unless ugly or pretty works better for them. I imagined my main Breton being vain, so he's well-groomed, dirt-free and ruggedly handsome. His twin sister is more down-to-earth and has a "girl next door" look to her, preferring function over form. My Imperial pyromage is an insecure misanthrope that would be fairly plain-looking had his face not set into a permanent scowl and he payed more attention to his appearance. My Breton Mage-singer from Oblivion was a gorgeous diva that wore gowns into battle. I think you get the idea.

For Skyrim it was a bit of a challenge since my original designs for the Breton siblings (descendants of the diva from Oblivion) were meant to be young 20-somethings with the male character being somewhat of a prettyboy. I wasn't aware that Skyrim's character creation didn't feature an age slider and males tend to lean towards the rugged mountain man look. Save for the wrinkles, the female twin came out just as I had wanted her to be, while the male's design was changed to something "meatier."

Eventually I used face mods to reduce the wrinkles so they could reasonably pass as 20-somethings and body mods to fix oddities with the vanilla character models. (No toes. Bodies that didn't look like they'd naturally from like they did, with freaky female armpits and strangely shaped torsos on males when viewed from the front, etc.) The body mods weren't so much for my characters as they were for the rest of Skyrim's inhabitants, but I guess you can add those.
