Why do you people hate fallout 3/Bethesda

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:39 pm

I can't find that quote he made where he said that killing is funny.

On a side note: What do you mean "you people"?

And he is an idiot just for that?

I want more explicit content, maybe that converts me in a bastad

It annoys me that pointing out legitimate problems with Fallout 3 amounts to 'hating on Fallout 3 and Bethesda'. Fallout 3 was a good game, and Bethesda is a good company. Fallout 3 was also riddled with problems, the most glaring one being the awful writing. Pointing that out doesn't mean I hate the entire package, just one aspect of the whole. Though I don't think I could ever go back to Fallout 3 after playing New Vegas and experiencing decent writing in the same world.

its a nice fact that they changed it, but the appropriate term is improved it. imo the mods of fo3 has helped a lot with regard to the improvements of nv game play.

No Fallout 3 haters are just people who point out all of the mistakes in Fallout 3, yet do not point out the mistakes in Fallout: New Vegas, and even say Fallout 3 had this problem that Fallout: New Vegas had too...

New Vegas has problems too, they just aren't as large (to me, at least). The exploration is lacking, but the writing is incredible compared to the majority of games these days. It's just a matter of what you want, more exploration of good writing. Considering Fallout is a franchise that is famous for good writing and moral ambiguity, it isn't hard for me to decide which game I prefer.

Not just exploration... It pissed me off that I saw New Vegas on a website under Survival Horror... Fallout 3 was Survival Horror but Vegas was the farthest thing from it.

Yet do not point out the mistakes in Fallout: New Vegas.

NCR bias.
Exploration is crap.
Challenge is crap.
Explosives is under powered.
Energy Weapons were changed to try and be like Guns and failed in doing so.

Here are a few more:

Lack of random mini encounters

Karmaic oddities (why can I murder traveling merchants w/o karma loss?)

Too many misc and healing items - not enough payoff for crafting

Building interiors too dark, bland, small, and overly repetitive (I'm looking at you too F03)

Invisible walls. AHRG! Invisible walls!!!!

Too many purely courier missions like this is a messenger / mailman simulator.

Why am I doing your job for you NCR/Legion/every faction I meet! Don't you have anyone else who is competent to do this in your freaking army/very large settlement!

I have to join up with Elvis to get a haircut.

Neither game is survival horror, and you can't blame New Vegas for the mistake of an internet website.

Fallout 3 was Survival Horror

Don't make me laugh. Neither games were 'survival horror' in any way, shape or form.

Oh wait, I guess that makes me a Bethesda, Fallout 3 hater according to your logic as seen from the other topics, aye? Herp derp

Thank-you, it's just people don't mention this stuff, only the bad things about Fallout 3.

And it was survival horror (F3), have you really put thought into it or did you just post instantely?

I've never been less scared in my life playing Fallout 3.

And it ain't really much survival either, not more than any other violent game and trying to avoid getting shot in the head. I mean, if worrying about getting shot at or ambushed by mercenaries counts for survival, then sure, it's a survival game.

I love Fallout 3. To be fair, I love it more than Fallout: New Vegas, though I still really like Obsidian's spinoff too.

On a side note, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are so very similar that it's like New Vegas is a giant mod of Fallout 3 (which is why I like Fallout 3 better). People who complain about Fallout 3 but praise New Vegas merely think about brand name. "It's made by Obsidian so it's surely awesome". Disregard that Obsidian hasn't made an original property videogame for years.

... MUST.. RESIST... RAAAAAAAAAGE

Fallout 3 and New Vegas are similar because they share the same engine, thats the only reason.
I complain and [censored] about Fallout 3 because it was a horrible 'fallout' game, I praise New vegas for actually being a good 'fallout' game.
Obsidian were the remnants of the makers of FO1/2, so it's pretty much their 'older' game franchise.

You could try to define it to me if you want. I consider the first Resident Evils and Silent Hill as a 'survival horror' for example. The almighty praised Dunwich building doesn't even come close.

How exactly can Fallout 3 be considered survival horror?

Seriously, if it's about personal taste I can accept that someone doesn't like AP.
But I honestly think most people who think it's crap just say so cause of the bandwagon.
I don't think most of them has even played AP.
It was a great game.
A little short but it's made for it's replayability with action and consequence so it evens itself out.
*sigh* I so wanna play it again but I have like 5 old school RPG's waiting in line after I'm done with Torment. :ahhh:

Honestly, I feel Fallout 3 is just as good as Fallout and Fallout 2. Honestly, I wouldn't care if EA made the game so long as they made the lore right. But sadly, EA hasn't made a good game in ages.

I think people doing that 'OLDZ IZ DUH HOLIE GRALE OF DUH VIDO GEAMS AND NU FALOWT GAEMZ IZ TERBLE' stuff is overly childish, and so is the reverse.

Fallout 3 was a great game and adds great lore to the game despite it's very simplistic story. Fallout and Fallout 2 are great too, despite their turn based elements. I could criticize both, but I can still give an unbiased opinion. Tactics was kind of out there, but playable, but BoS was an aweful game. I hate when people go 'FALLOUT 3 IS FACTUALLY A BAD FALLOUT GAME', because apparently their opinion=/= the global definition of 'Fallout Game'.

I just feel people are siding with Developer and not Game.

Edit- I havent played AP, so I can't judge, I've heard praise and criticism of it. But in terms of New Vegas, Obsidian made alot of errors, but I still enjoy the game, and since this is their first time using a new system (going from whatever AP was built on to Geck and Gamebryo) I'm sure they did better than what most other companies could.

What errors?

On a side note, Fo3 could be worse,

Continuity reboot
