Why do you play New Vegas ?

Post » Sun Oct 11, 2009 9:12 am

I play New Vegas because I love it. Play it everyday. But I'll give you an actual reason. First of all, The new hardcoe mode is amazing, i love hafting to actually go by foot the whole game(dont actually have to, but good strategy on hardcoe). I play to experiance a post apocalyptic world with mutants and bad guys and the 50s. Thats not something i'm gonna get in the real world. And the damage threshhold(DT) and armor piercing is amazing. They improved this game greatly. I actually can't stop playing it. lol. And i play it as if it were a treasure hunting game. THERES SO MUCH STUFF!! Like honestly. Its an awesome action game and role playing game. But no other role playing game tops the treasure in this game, not Fable, not Mass Effect. This game tops it all. no pun intended. jk that was dumb. Anyways I'm just curious as to why all you peeps play it !!

Because it's [censored] amazing. And because it's story has so much replay value. it's 10x better a sequel to FO2 than FO3.

Why I got NV? I got NV because I had played Fallout 3 and enjoyed it very much. So then I bought NV.

Why I play it? I play it because I have nothing better to do. No, I'm just kidding, the real reason is because it's probably the best game ever.

Well, I play it becuse no other game that has been realesed the lates year can match the replay value of it. I love hardcoe mode ( althoug I fast travel, alot moore in the end thoug :P ), I love the way that the game is so different. In one moment you can running around looking for trasures in the Mojave, and some time later you run around in small halls in casinos and shoot people with you SMG. The game is so varied.

I've been a Fallout fan for 12 years, I think it's a fair to say I play it cause it's Fallout.
But yeah I play it cause it's fun and give roleplaying options.
The difficulty curve is [censored] sideways though so I have to roleplay as "lesser" roles in order to be presented with a challenge. (A la selfgimp)

Fallout 3 was my favourite game ever so I'm loving New Vegas too. I like discovering all the different quest paths and trying out all the companions. In New Vegas I can actually create different characters that specialise in certain things, whereas Fallout 3 did not have this.

Oh yeah, and I like shooting stuff. :gun:

Have you played FO3? it has a post apocalyptic world with mutants and several things to shoot. so far you haven't mentioned anything about the boring politics so you'll love FO3 assuming you haven't played FO3. and you obviously haven't been NV for that long or else you would have noticed that the enemies are always in the same place and there are not any random encounters. whats the point of having a shiny new gun if you have no target

You do know that FO3 has the same problems except it has plotholes instead of politics.

If he plays FO3 after New Vegas it will seem very horrible. I think he mentioned enjoying the replayability, and hardcoe mode which neither are in FO3. NV is just an improvement to FO3 that is more of a sequel to FO2 and it has a good story.

The storyline and anything involved with it, plain and simple (okay the new guns are cool too :hubbahubba: ).

New Vegas's story is amazing and I'm appreciating it more and more everyday. In particular the character of Mr. House was a pleasant surprise for me, he was a character that when I first heard of the game, was sure I would not side with. When I met him however, I found that I could do nothing but help him to Vegas-based domination.

Mr. House and President Eden have got to be my favorite video game personalities of all time.

1) Replayability, which still isn't perfect (due to items being preplaced and you should not know this information).
2) Being an RPG that actually supports 1st person, also still not perfected, but iron sights does add a lot of feel.
3) hardcoe mode. I don't think I would have bothered replaying without it, no matter how deep the "story" is.

Great game, much better than that garbage called Fallout 3 which actually changed the lore of fallout since the enclave was destroyed in Fallout 2, yet in Fallout 3 it's alive in well with plenty of fire power. Harold should have never been in Fallout 3 since there is no way he with a giant tree growing out of him, could travel from the West Coast to the East Coast no problem. Fallout 3 also lacked choice that mattered. You had to go after your lame dad who left you to get attacked by. Fallout New Vegas more of sequel while Fallout 3 was more of a spin off. Fallot New Vegas contains a lot of stuff that was going to be in Van Buren (This is what the REAL Fallout 3 was supposed to be). Fallout 3 took place many years after Fallout 2, yet has LESS people than were in Fallout 2.

Choice actually matters, and the choice is not really clear cut. You can side with the NCR, Legion or make Vegas independent, and even those offer choice, do you kill the Boomers for house, or do you get them to join you. The companions actually have a fleshed out story, some more than others though. I love that you don't get perks every level and instead get them ever two, so you don't become a god so early. The story is much better than Fallout 3's "Go after dad, save water purifier which really doesn't matter". Choose to infect the Water with FEV or don't, again it doesn't even matter if you do or not.

Fallout New Vegas is a terrific game, that's why I like it.

I never played the originals (think I was into Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale at the time). Always been a huge fan of well made rpg's however, and quite simply NV is one of the best :)

Oh, and the hardcoe mode.

If you could put up with the games of the time, you should definitely play the originals, freaking classics, they are.

OF COURSE I'vE PLAYED FO3. It was my favorite game ever. I had over 500 hours on it. Same with fallout new vegas. Yes i've noticed many of the flaws but The good things about it balance it the other way. Flaws < Perks I love this game.
