Why is YOUR character in prison?

When you start Skyrim, you'll find your character in a prison cell. How did he or she get there? GO!

I don't know! :o

I haven't met my character yet. I have not watched her progress through the lands of Skyrim and have not seen her fulfill her destiny and accept her fate as Dragonborn. Once I know a little more about her, I'm sure I'll be able to figure out how she ended up there. ;)

Like I said before, guard pulled me over and found an ounce of skooma and a pipe in my saddlebag. Guess it didn't help I smelt like bosmer leaf. He said I had the intent to sell, but I swore it was for my personal use. The judge gave me 3-7...

Alright, time to think..

My character(Nord) was exploring Riverwood looking to buy a longsword so he can begin his exploration. His father before him had been an adventurer and he had always wanted to follow in his footsteps. He enters the Blacksmith shop to find the shop owner dead on the floor. A child helper comes down from the top floor, seeing my character standing over his dead body. The child screams and the town guard storms in. Since I have no evidence to prove me innocent, I am taken to prison for murder.

Character age: Young(I'm not sure if Nord young is the same as Human young)

What do you guys think? :D

My PC didn't have enough gold to pay the fine.

There was this noble who had quite the grudge on my character. The nobleman lured my character into his house under the terms of apology for his past rudeness. It was a lie though. He ended up fighting my character in a sword battle, my character killed him in self-defense but the authorities believe my character started it. It's possible the nobleman's family paid them off.

Nord zombie maybe :P

Mercenaries, traveling through the land returning to their homes, killed my family while I was away.
The first one I found gave me the names of all the others.
I spent the next few years tracking each one down and slaying him.

What about your guy getting hired to protect the blacksmith during the night against a few guys he was afraid would try to murder him, however when you arrive at the evening he has already been murdered hours ago. You draw your sword, in case any more assassins lure around in the corners when a child comes from outside to... Take a delivery from there or to there? Doesnt matter, anyways, the kid sees you, he sees your drawn sword and he sees the dead man.
The child screams and the town guard storms in. Since you have no evidence to prove yourself innocent, you are taken to prison for murder. The guard and court propably arnt to keen to go on and INVESTIGATE stuff, so you propably get thrown into a dungeon with a death sentence quickly ordered.

Or EVEN better, an assassin WAS left in the room, jumps forward to knock you when you draw your sword, then you cut him in the arm and he flees out from there. Then the kid comes in and sees the BLOODY sword and all that and we all know what happens next!

I accidently a small village. The whole thing. Apparantly that is bad, so they threw me in jail.

Also, I don't think you start IN jail. I'm pretty sure you start in some outdoor place, right about to be executed. Like the game starts AS some priest or whatever is reading you your last rights. I hope you don't start in jail... with some kind of a 20 minutes tutorial on your way to be execurted. :P

My character (Wood Elf) was called a midget. He was really offended, and to teach a lesson to the Nord, he shot a precise arrow in the Nord's ass.

I was caught wandering around naked in Vvardenfell, then took me, shipped me off to cyrodiil and made me take a trip naked to a port, where nobody seemed to care, then shipped me off to skyrim.
