Is Wild Wasteland good?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 10:37 pm

I understand Easter Eggs. The problem is that turning it into a character trait that alters game encounters (aliens vs. bandits, Gauss vs. pistol etc) makes them no longer quite Easter Eggs. I mean, they are, and they aren't. imo. I understand why it turned out that way, just saying I don't like the way they did it.

Anyway....I do like Easter Eggs, when I recognize them (I don't always know the references)....culture reference gravestone epitaphs you can read if you bother to click on them, simple NPC names/encounters(hahaha, look, it's that Drow in BG1!), or even just secret levels that open if you find items/do things in specific order (Dungeon Siege1-2, Diablo2...).

It's because of the dumbing down of today's gamers. And the debate about having them at all in Fallout games. It svcks but the Wild Wasteland trait was really the only way to do it. I guess a toggle could have been added, but the devs must have had their reasons for making it a trait.

How can you ask how someone can hate something? This is the internet, where everyone hates everything.

Everyone hates everything? dude you got it all wrong.
I as an example dont hate Fallout. So i dont hate everything. I do believe that what you are trying to say is that if you combine everything everyone hates then everything in the world is hated by someone currect? else you dont make sense.

I liked the encounters in Fallout 2. Still people felt that they took a way from the seriousness of the game. Some of them in Fallout 2 break the fourth wall. Fallout didn't have that many pop-culture references and Fallout 2 had alot. So going from little to none to alot bugged alot of people. The Devs of New Vegas had to listen to people complain about it for over ten years. So they simply made it an option.

I don't think people are saying they HATE them, there's just different degrees of seriousness that people appreciate with their games. I respect silly, but I don't like aliens. I don't really like aliens in ANY game that isn't explicitly a space-based thing like StarCraft or Mass Effect.

Plus I love Gauss Rifles. Ergo Wild Wasteland and I do not get along.

You can get Gauss rifle without killing the aliens, Elijah has one and i some BoS and i think you can buy it at the BoS too.
So i dont see the problem with getting a overpowered alien blaster, even though u aint gonna use it (used all the alien ammo thing on every single fiend in Vegas, killed them all in a single run. Good times)
