Will 3DTV cripple XBox 720 and PS4 and revive the PC

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 7:52 pm

I'm just thinking this because I can only see two scenarios

1) Cost of 3D Tv versus 3D monitors makes ultra high spec silent PC's with large 3D monitors TV cards remote controls and blu-ray players ultimately cheaper than a 3DTV and a next gen console. Currently this is cheaper than a 3D TV by itself lols. Making a PC the obvious choice for a home entertainment system.

2) Consoles get delayed while MS and Sony wait for consumers to adopt 3D and it doesn't happen fast enough due to the cost. PC marker grows into the void.

Sounds like a big meh. Have no plans to drop 500 bucks on a stereoscopic monitor, lol lets watch the 3d rendered game in 3d.

you can play half life 1 in 3d if you want to,or quake, any directx or opengl game is 3d on pc...

and its cheaper, but, what do you mean by "revive the PC",pc gaming isnt dead...

Pc gaming isn't dead, but it seems as though quality pc games being released are few and far between. Get really tired of paying for betas, they should be paying me to bug test their **** software.

PC gaming has never been anywhere near close to dead. The fact is that more games are now extremely expensive and require far more work. Therefore more games have to be multi-platform to survive without a sugar daddy paying them off and are more prone to bugs.

People want to be saving money today thats where things fall apart because you always need the latest tools. People who don't get the latest tools end up bleeding out money in the long term.

THATS WHY YOU NEED>>>> CRYENGINE 3!!!!

3D is not going to be the next HD. I'm buying a new TV at the moment and every expert I asked said that 3D is only good for watching certain movies and for sports. He said that it also gives you a large learning curve for gaming and that you're actually at a disadvantage unless you stick with it.

Will Microsoft attempt to do 3D? Abosolutly. They are moving into the casual market all the time and will eventually become the new Nintendo.

Will Sony? Probably. If MS does, they will.

Will PC gaming take off? Of course not. People will continue to play games on their console like they always have until the next gen comes along. PC gaming might get an increase of hardcoe gamers who want the new experiences, but thats it. I, for one, simply dont have the money once I buy this moniter to build a PC.

Will PC gaming die?Of course not. Once the two year gap of the consoles and PC being equal is over for games, PC gaming will keep progressing as it always has.
