Will Andoran keep you busy until Skyrim launches?

Post » Sun Jul 10, 2011 10:17 am

The Elder Scrolls IV: Andoran is launching soon! Do you think it will have the same power as Oblivion had to keep your interest? Will it be enough to hold us until Skyrim launches? What else is the community doing to quench their thirst for Skyrim?

it looks interesting, and these total conversion mods like Neherim and Andoran will be fun to try.

However, I'm still not finished with Oblivion. I will probably complete Oblivion just before starting Skyrim in November.

Perhaps in 2012 or 2013 I will have some time to try Neherim and Andoran. By that time the modding teams will also have worked out most bugs and compatibility issues.

I'll give it a try.

I really can't see it beating Nehrim though.

i can. Russian games blow German games out of the water. plus, dynamic shadows.

that said i'm pretty sure Andoran is coming out after Skyrim, at least with any sort of English translation.

Eh...might hold off, since it will probably be better than Skyrim. Don't want to ruin the experience.

Really? I've played plenty of amazing German games, but I can't recall playing any Russian games (except Tetris).

I agree, some of the same guys that did this mod did the famous GTA IV Photorealism mod.

I haven't even heard of a concrete launch date. They only released the trailer to gauge public reaction, and help decide whether they should release before Skyrim or after.

L4D will be keeping me occupied for the rest of the summer and early fall.

I've recently started playing again and have developed a huge crush on Zoey.

So they're good with graphics... doesn't mean they can produce a game to the same standard as Nehrim.

but Tetris is a perfect game. so is Another World, but that's French.

also by Russian games i was including the whole of the CIS. so STALKER, Metro 2033, Cryostasis, Pathologic, &c.

Russians are pretty much the kings of the immersive sim post-Looking Glass.

oh man seriously? i had no idea. oh god i am so pumped oh god oh god i mean a lot of the GTA4 stuff is enbseries and i don't think enbseries would play well with OBGE but still

Fair enough, we can only hope their level of detail is as extensive as the Nehrim development team's!

Hopefully. If that turns out to be the case, there's a good chance Andoran could outshine Skyrim...

I'm mainly running emulators for now. Playing final fantasy x on my 1080p tv at fullspeed is cool (I'M NOT UNDERLEVED ANYMORE!! HELL YEAH :celebration: ). I'm also emulating some other games, like twilight princess. Guess going back to the past helps to sustain the future sometimes.

You can't possibly be that pessimistic. Once Skyrim launches we should have this talk again, hopefully you'll have to eat those words.

Nehrim really easy, I have steam version too.

1.copy the oblivion folder in your steam install, and make a backup for easy "reinstall".
2.download nehrim, and install it
3.copy the nehrim files, and paste them into your original steam oblivion install, overwriting anything it asks/merging.
4.unchecked all oblivion .esps and mods too in the data tab at startup, and leave only nehrims checked.
5.play nehrim using oblivion .exe(can't use nehrim .exe because of steam).
6.if you want to go back to oblivion, delete the whole oblivion folder, and paste your backup in it's place.

So it sounds like you install total conversion mods for Steam version exactly the same way you install all other mods.

In other words, it should be no problem at all, as I currently have FCOM, OBSE, OBGEv2, etc. running fine on my Steam install.

Not really. Total Conversion mods for Steam require that the base Oblivion files be over-written where necessary.

What you can do to make things easier is to install Oblivion like normal, then make a copy of the base Oblivion folder and rename it ('steamapps\common\oblivion' and 'steamapps\common\vanilla oblivion' for example). One of the folders will be where you install the total conversion, and the other will be plain Oblivion. When you want to play either, you just switch the names of the folders.
