Will anyone buy a 3D TV just to play C2? Is it worth it?

So far as I understand, This new era of 3D is quite different from the old bicoloured specs crap of the past, but it does need a monitor/tv that is 3D capable, and a pair of almost clear specs apart from a mild and equal tint and of course, the game, if this is correct, and it is anything at all close to the actual, >>TV demo at my local store,<< that was awsome, the rock band palying a gig, had terrific depth of field in the screen and was as good from any angle, with no apparent loss of colour so far as i could see, also I didnt feel sick or in anyway wierd as i removed the glasses, One big downside, the pricetag, ill wait a bit I think. :-)

I got that too, so it will support 3D if I hook it up to a 3D TV?

From what i've heard it's stereoscopic 3D, which means you don't need a new monitor, just some green and red glasses. Snazzy! :D

I'm not hopping on the 3D bandwagon yet, sure the stuff flying around ur head can be nice, but it starts to annoy me after a while. I'm gonna stick with 3x 30'' monitors in eyefinity, ATI ftw.

The only requirement needed to correctly display 3D capabilities, both for monitors and TV's, is that the monitor/TV has to have a 120 hz refresh rate.

New tech in 3D TVs? 120hz capatibility is hardly new tech so, there is no bugs really and 3D vision isn't new either and crytek is officially supporting it so there shouldn't be any bugs, some minor like everywhere else.

Yeah, might take 3-5 years before any significant price drop, meanwhile everyone with the 3D will be telling you how bad ass the map you made is, in 3D. Whole new level of dimension = better then status quo.

I will probably buy a 3d TV, not because of Crysis 2, but because I believe technology is going that way and Crysis 2 is just the excuse. :)

Nope, I don't think 3D will do so good anyway. It's expensive and most people get a headache from it.

I use a headset, so I don't think it would be so comfortable using those huge 3D glasses at the same time.

Hmm, Consider this blurb from Gamespy about Crysis 3D.

http://www.gamespy.com/articles/110/1102167p5.html

I have a feeling it is going to knock our socks off and we don't even know it yet.

quite frankly im not as confident as i was in 3d gaming as i was a few days ago. i read an article in gamepro stating that your eyes will start to ache and your vision may blur after 45 minutes of gameplay. ill certainly clock at least 3x that amount during my first session with the game.

I will certainly be playing Crysis2 in 3D but I think the fault I see in 3D technologies is that it isn’t truly 3D. The images are really only given depth with the current technology. Until the User has the ability to move around an object (even if limited) I don’t see longevity in current 3D technologies. Because the Viewer is forced to look at a single portal to view the 3D, it is still being wrapped by a 2D mind.

What I am interested in about 3D is its ability to strengthen the eye. I would be interested to see any studies that show how much improvement there is in people with stigmatisms, or even trends in large sample sizes being reduced by the use of the technology.

Maybe in using a tool that allows us to develop our brains so that we are using both eyes, will also strengthen the brain in other areas? I image the technology has the power to enrich us by evolving the brain to accept more optical information, maybe even opening our minds up to accept more input and information in the future.

I'd hope Crysis 2 Special Edition is packaged with a pair. That goes for all the systems. :]

3D is a gimmick. Expensive, potentially harmful and crappy.
