Will Bethesda Severely neglect playstation with Skyrim like

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 5:53 am

I will Actually play this game on PC because of modding but my friend (really hardcoe gamer by the way) wasn't to know if Beth is going to pull the same crap they did with oblivion to skyrim not getting official content taking ages for release waiting for GOTY just to get shivering isle he says if this happens again he won't buy it I am the one who got him into the series in the first place which makes me sad that he might not be able to enjoy this game with me.

my main problem Bethesda is neglecting PlayStation like an itchy rash which makes no sense because PlayStation is more steam like than Xbox,What I mean by that is you PAY real money for content not virtual points you can download almost any game to your hard rive from the network Xbox has this feature to but it is severely limited IIRC,back to the point I don't get why neglect PlayStation so badly? is it money greed any of you guys have an idea?

I hope not - platform exclusivity svcks :(

Just to add, I'm a 360 player, so some may reckon that people like me tend to get the best deal in these sorts of things, but that doesn't mean I support it in any way.

Bethesda has a proven track record of taking Microsoft money and doing exclusive DLC... which is one of the few negatives about Bethesda and their games.

With that said, their recent DLC (Fallout 3 and NV) was only limited exclusive and did/will come out for the PC/PS3 eventually. I would expect the same trend to continue for Skyrim... 360 exclusive DLC followed by a later release on the PS3/PC.

It's all business. Microsoft simply paid more cash to get content to the Xbox sooner. As far as MS Points vs Paying directly with a card, its the same thing with a different face. Microsoft isn't really paying Bethesda is MS Points -__- And Bethesda gets their money just as fast on both consoles. The money first goes to the consoles company, and then the payment is forwarded to the game owners.

I hope not. I'm a PC/360 gamer, but since when was Bethesda the same as Activision? Show some class, Bethesda.

I play on xbox....and i do think it's unfair that PS3 user's have to wait.
It's mostly due to money, but also it's easier to develope for 360 " tod said it was smoother".
But still, thats no excuse,we all pay for the game,so we should all get the extra content at the same time.

DLC will come to 360 first because Microsoft pay for timed exclusives so often. PS3 version should be fine other than that though, given they come out of the same time (or so I assume). Wasn't Oblivion just a port for PS3?

It's money, Microsoft pays them off to hold it back for a little while.

I personally hope they have multiplatform release dates, I got three of my cousins into Fallout 3 and when they had to wait so long for the DLCs (I did too, we all have PS3s) one of them got so pissed off they took the disc and just threw it in the trash (he was tired of his friend saying how great Point Lookout and the Pitt was).

I probably won't even by the DLCs unless they're released at the same time as Xbox 360.

I hope not - platform exclusivity svcks :(

I think history will probably repeat itself, I just hope it doesn't. Bethesda, hear me out. I like your games a lot but there are others just as good and better who don't treat their PS3 users like sh*t. Please don't except Microsoft's money to hold back the relaease date, out of the kindness of you hearts/desire to even sell the PS3 version.

Seriously, don't worry PS3 gamers. Unlike Oblivion, Bethesda is implementing their game early on into each branch of platform.

If it miraculously ends up svcking on the PS3, I will lose a significant amount of friends to talk about the game with.

Cool Bethesda doesn't get your friend's 60 dollars. They get much more than that from Microsoft though. You pay for quality.

I want to get Skyrim on ma pc...though I'm not sure if my machine could handle it, so I might go for ps3, and hence, why I hope this isnt pulled off again. I mean, like I was so disappointed I couldn't get frostcrag/battlethorn.vile lair on ps3, especially seeing as goty edition, there is a glitch making vampirism in-curable , so Vile ;lair would'a helped

Sure we pay for the game, but the game companies also pay for the exclusive content on their platform. Money is being moved in all directions, we're not the only ones paying. And in some cases, the console companies pay a considerable portion of the total profits.

Hey are you kidding me? The Xbox 360 was out for a while before Oblivion was released. Do you not realize that the Playstation 3 was not released until November 11, 2006? Many months after Oblivion's release? The playstation 3 is also very hard to port to. Many things would have had to been redone.

Skyrim will come out at the same time on all consoles. I doubt that the DLC will though. But that is just money. If Sony cared they would pay Bethesda first and more.

Yeah....but it's a multi platform game, all three platforms should be treated equally in my view.
I know the reasons why that may not happen, but that doesn't mean it's right/fair.

Judging from the disparity between Xbox and PC Morrowind / Oblivion, I don't think you need only be worried about one console here.

EDIT: The console war seems silly to me.

I play on PC and Xbox. I could care less whether Playstation owners get the game. Maybe if we got games like Uncharted, I might consider your concerns more, but platform exclusivity is something that exists. If Bethesda got more money from Microsoft to keep it exclusive, then they could care less as well. Save some money on trying to port it.

Regardless, I highly doubt that'll happen. You don't just make one game for a console and the next one you don't. You generally make more money when you go multiplatform too. Too bad games like Uncharted and Little Big Planet are trapped in the harsh world of Sony. I hope they get pirated out of exclusivity :P

And why do you hope they do?

So you can be an ass and brag about it. :swear:

No, I don't like to brag or call other people names via online forums. But I do support American companies, so if Microsoft can get an edge over Sony on exclusive DLC for a triple-A title like Skyrim, then maybe my fellow countrymen will think twice before they decide to buy a foreign product. That is all.

You guys freaking relax and listen to what you are saying. The PS3 and 360 release will be the same day as well as the DLC. It was a lot different in 2006 because of the release of the consoles. PS3 owners were lucky to get what they got (KOTN, Shivering Isles) and not because of some bullcrap reason. :cryvaultboy:

I don't know about Fallout, but all of the DLC for Oblivion that I know about was made available on the PC. I had to jump through a couple of hoops due to Vista, but its all there, including the annoying Mystic Emporium locked door. I don't care if one system gets it a month early, I do not want to end up waiting a year or more for the content though. At least on the PC mods will be available. What happened on the PS3 was inexcusable (the Vampire Cure glitch), but there were probably some issues behind the scenes that contributed to the problem.

I'm sure that Skyrim is going to come out the same date for PS3 as for 360. The 360 will probably get DLC/expansions sooner, but not by that much. In the end, it will probably be fine. :P

What did we say about console wars?

Besides, you literally cannot have Uncharted on the XBOX because it's too resource heavy. I actually saw an interview with the developers saying they chose the platform because it could do things the XBOX was not capable of.

My memory is a bit fuzzy, but didn't Oblivion come out on the Xbox before the PS3 was even released? It seems like if that is the case it is fairly logical to expect that MS has pushed a good deal of money into their pockets before Sony even considered it. I don't think that is a greed thing, but it is business.
