Will Bosmer be portrayed well this time?

for every Glarthir, you had a serious Bosmer.

yes, such as the Adoring Fan ;-)

To be honest, Glarthir was my favorite character in Oblivion

The lore of the bosmer did not fit with the presentation of bosmer in Oblivion.

I would like it if they were almost wild folk with few living in towns. I would like it if they had a sinister feeling about them, of course the voice actor would need to help towards this.

At the very least have them as a race that can be taken seriously. If they are done right then I shall definitely be a bosmer huntsman as my first character.

The problem with the Bosmer race in my opinion is the males. I can count two male Bosmer I consider "normal": Brodras and Hagaer. The were a bit ecsentric sure, but not annoying. Never had a problem with female Bosmer mind you(I'm looking at you Acadian ;) ).

They can be Adoring Cannibals :teehee:
But better if dark eyes with large pupil will be done to make them more like forest living animals, if face paint was added nice also see some racial paints on some Bosmer faces

Let me start it out like this.
Bosmer are my favorite race, they are swift to the bow and just make the best assassin characters.
But Bethesda in the past has been uncapable of making the Bosmer right. Bosmer in Morrowind... Just horrible. HORRIBLE I TELL YOU!
Oblivion's Bosmer was slightly improved, but again a huge action that damaged the image of Bosmer kind to gamers everywhere. The adoring fan.
In lore they are supposed to be carnivorous elves with a tendency to eat their fallen foes. I know that is only a practice they act in Valenwood. But they shouldn't be annoying little midgets. Glarthir, Adoring fan all those. Bethesda seriously damaged their image.
I really hope they make them well in Skyrim or I will go sadface.

No.

Dark unearthly eyes, fey beauty, and a few tattoos would go a long way. But I think the main problem with male Bosmer in Morrowind (and certainly Oblivion) was the voice acting. Softer, darker voices this time, I hope.

Either way, I don't think we need be worried. I mean, http://www.tesnexus.com/imageshare/images/128909-1303151790.jpg...

Yh ^^ this.

I'd like to see Bosmer as a race resembling something more along the lines of the Khmer Rouge from the jungles of Cambodia. Not some idiot looking / sounding pixie race

Some Tribal moves from New Guinea to the US and you think they're still going to act like a Tribal? Or that they children or grandchildren are still going to act like tribals?

Pretty much. Cyrodiil is Nirns melting pot. I can name plenty of "serious" Bosmer form Oblivion.

Well if we're all suggesting how Wood Elves 'need' to change, this is what I posted on one of my threads awhile back...

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4256204229_d5be6c2350.jpg: I wasn't too keen on how these lot looked either. Foreheads slanted, elongated noses... they just had really pointy faces. It looked unnatural. Lady Syl was the only good looking Wood Elf I ever saw and she was in Shivering Isles. Keep them short and agile, it fits them perfectly but perhaps they should have less rediculous hair styles? I mean it's like the devs are trying to make them silly looking. I know we're not in Valenwood and I can't expect every Bosmer out there to be some badass ranger/hunter but I've never seen any Wood Elf in Oblivion that intimidated me. They are the most skilled marksmen so why not give them something unique like http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2305/2495028541_0f6808c82b.jpg to reflect their advanced peripheral depth perception? It makes sense and would most certainly give those with bovinaphobia the creeps.

Did you admire different eyes then other humanoids have?
They are more suit for night and forest creatures, making Bosmers more feral.

I don't see those traits you mentioned being in the lore as excluding "annoying" and "petty."

i dont think it was really the way they were preseted that was really bad, just the voice actor for oblivion sounded like a nasally dbag and most of the characters were written as annoying

You say that.

If that isn't presented badly, I don't know WHAT is. No race should be so annoying that you want to hate all of them. There should always be at least a FEW well written characters.

To many on this thread:

The problem, as I see it (and I think others, including the OP, might share this view) is not specifically the way that the Bosmer looked in past games - it's that the portrayal of them, particularly in Oblivion, was about as predictably and shallowly degrading as the portrayal of blacks in 70s TV crime dramas.

I'm about as interested in seeing irritatingly crazy Bosmers as I am in seeing shucking and jiving black pimps in crushed velvet suits and platform shoes.

Rip down. . .

I said few in town.
I meant they should be more prevalent in villages and camps as they use their natural skills for hunting. It was just a suggestion as a way to redeem the immature representation of bosmer in Oblivion.

Of course I want there to be some weird eccentric bosmer, just not the overwhelming majority this time.

Perhaps make a suggestion yourself instead of nitpicking people's speculation on how Bethesda will handle the portrayal of bosmer.

My theory for why all the eccentric characters are bosmer is that, due to their size, they make the best childlike characters. I hope that with the inclusion of actual kids (btw, is this confirmed) Bethesda will be able to leave the immaturity to the kids and make the bosmer the awesome race they are capable of being

Considering it is Beth that created the Bosmer and decided how they were, then how can they portray them wrong? Or is it more a matter of them not portraying Bosmer how you want them to?

Pretty much this. Bosmer are Bethesdas creation. How they portray them is up to them, not you.

Bingo.

Maybe the annoying embarrassments most people think of actually are typical...
