My guesses for GOTY..

#1 Gears of War 3
#2 BRINK
#3 Battlefield 3

Any of these three

Crysis 2, Brink, Battlefield 3 all have potential.

Killzone 3 probably won't make it in the running, although I love the game, there just aren't enough features.

Personally, I don't think Brink will even be close because it doesn't have nearly enough hype behind it.

It's going to be between the new CoD, BF 3, Gears 3, Skyrim, L.A. Noire, and maybe Killzone 3 and Crysis 2.

If we're talking shooter of the year, Brink has a slightly better chance, but I still think there's probably no way it'll actually win.

Edit: Should probably clarify that I'm not actually saying Brink will be worse than all of these games. I'm just saying I don't think it'll win any major GOTY awards when put up against them.

The better question would be who's coming in second place for game of the year

Game of the Year, no way. I think Battlefield 3 could take that one for the hype or Skyrim, if the expectations (the very, very high expectations) will be fulfilled.

Shooter of the Year, very tough one. Again, Battlefield 3, don't believe the hype, but people will vote for it. Also a possible new Call of Duty and of course Crysis 2.


It's also "Best game with Parkour in it", I guess. Doesn't mean too much as of now, though.

My money is on Gears of War 3 as GOTY

Battlefield 3 should actually be a really good game and a legitimate contender for GOTY. If you haven't played a Battlefield game outside of the Bad Companies I could see why you wouldn't think so, though.

Also, I can't believe I forgot about Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3. Those are definite GOTY contenders.

And I think Best New IP will probably go to L.A. Noire. Brink will be a contender for sure though.

I played Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2.

However, the trailer for Battlefield 3 made it look like a generic new-age shooter to me.

Maybe. But I'm hoping the multiplayer will make up for the generic-looking campaign.

I love Gears of War and I do think Gears of War 3 got a bigger chance at GOTY than BRINK, since it's not a completely new title - And really now, what one site rates a game doesn't really mean that much, now does it? :l

i ultimately disagree with you once it comes closer to coming out brink will get amazing hype its already made people draw in all thier freinds and by the time it comes out will have millions of players becuase of that plus its a brand new type of game most havent experienced once they get a taste thier hooked!

Brink doesn`t appeal to wide enough audience to be in the top TBH...

BRINK got "Game of the Show" on E3, Gamescom and Eurogamer, if I'm not mistaken. Excelling Black Ops and Crysis 2.

since brink is like borderlands which got game of the year last year and parkour and timesplitter its already beatn half of the games that try to fight it and gears of war...hahaha...yea right never liked it plus i went to gamestop they were talking to me for almost an hour about brink and all of the features finally they are giving it a gameparty at 12:00 in morning on tues im going tshirts,wallets,hats, im going all out

Brink is like borderlands and timesplitters.... wait what? I've played both games extensively, and aside from being FPS they are nothing like brink, unless every trailer and interview we've seen so far is a total lie.
Borderlands maybe just a smidge (xp and leveling up) but timesplitters? I just don't understand.

And just becuse you dont like GOW doesn't mean its a bad game, I'm not a fan of it either but it's obviously good considering its probably the most anticipated game of the year at the moment (Yeah they way out number us brink fans, deal with it)

I think Brink will be GOTY for me, but publicly it honestly depends if SP can drag the average quick-scoping tomahawk throwing armour lock using MLG try hard away from their everyday FPS for just long enough to see the beauty that is Brink

there should be a machinima where master chief plays brink that would be hilarious
