Will console players play together?

Post » Wed Feb 05, 2014 12:50 pm

I was wondering if Ps4 and Xbox One players will be able to play together on the same megaserver, or if there will be seperate servers for the two consoles just like there is for PC. I for one am hoping that we can all play together, it would be unfortunate to cut the playerbase in half again after already seperating PC and console gamers.

I always assumed there'd be 3 different servers. One for each platform.

They're splitting xbox and ps4 players onto separate servers.

So basically, Xbox will have very small amounts of players. Playstation will only slightly be better but still limited. PC will be swamped with players and will see the best of the social parts of MMO. Hopefully the kids will stick with the console play and leave more mature advlts to the PC. I know it's "rated M for mature" but let us be honest, what kid can't get a M game that also owns one of these machines.

Even if eso would only sell 50 000 copies per console there would still be more than enough players for you to enjoy the game to it's fullest. You can't mix console and pc players in one server, the consoles controller alone would put the console people at a serious disadvantage.

Why should the console versions sell bad? I'm a pc player but suspect the console versions will outsell the pc version at least combined.

Plenty of MMO on PC non on Xbox One as I know PS4 has FF14aar.

Not only does most TES players play on consoles, but you also get an lots of other players who was not interested in Skyrim but is interested in an MMO.

My reasoning is the lower number of consoles rolling around on the market. Honestly Xbox sales have been abysmal. Yes PS4 sales have been great but good luck getting them. I'm just saying, currently, PC players outnumber console (PS4/Xbox One) players like 200:1.

One reason is the staggered release. There will most certainly be more Mac/PC players than both consoles combined. Characters created on the PC servers won't exist on the console servers, so those console owners who bought the game for the PC will have no real reason to buy the console version, well, unless they wanted to start completely over, or they have many friends on the consoles playing.

Also, please provide a link showing me that most TES players play on the console than PC, because I'd be willing to bet that with all the TES games combined, PC players outnumber console players.

It's like 4 months til the console launch, give it time, besides, plenty of people are still waiting on getting their hands on one of the new consoles.

Funny enough I saw a bunch of PS4s at my local Walmart on the 2nd. Went in yesterday and they were all sold out. All the while seen 4 Xbox One consoles and they have sold 1 since the 1st.

No need for an link Morrowind sold more on Xbox, oblivion sold very well, Skyrim sold very well on pc, numbers are unknown, some estimates rivals 360 sales but no way it outsold both.

And yes you are tight about numbers sold bit over 7 million total. it will increase towards summer but doubt it will pass 10 so my estimate is a bit of, however it will sell a lot on the systems but will not outsell pc because of the low numbers.

It's too bad that they're splitting the servers between consoles. That being said, this is great example of why the megaserver is awesome. I don't have to worry about rolling on a low pop server - as long as people are playing the game, I will be playing with them!

That's one of the reasons I LOVE games like ESO and for example, Eve Online. Eve Online gives all players access to the same universe on the same server. This allows everyone to interact in real time and makes sure that you never have low population servers. I used to play WoW a while back and my 10 slots are all used and are all on a dead server. It would be $250 to transfer my chars to a server that isn't dead and actually has something going on with it. I'm not paying that to a game that caused that death in the first place. They have been trying to give us "connected realms" but aren't working at any real speed to do it and even then, some of the connections are complete crap and do nothing to actually help. If WoW had everyone playing together they would remove the need for the LFR. More games need to work on single server to give the actual feel of what a MMO should be.

I totally agree with you. I started playing GW2 to keep me distracted until ESO comes out, and all my characters that I had made at launch were on a different server than what my friends are on. GW2 only lets you make characters on one server at a time, so I had to choose between deleting all my characters and restarting on a new character, or paying $25 to transfer them. I ended up deleting them because it wasn't worth spending real money on a game I'm playing periodically and very casually, but it still did not feel good. I think the megaserver is an incredible feature that isn't getting enough hype!
