DF will run great on Windows 98. You will need to provide a bit of technical information to W98 (most games back then did), but once you do so, it's way better than running it under an NT OS.

Yup, it works as good on win98 as it does in real DOS. You might run in to problems with your CPU speed and need a slow down utility like Turbo.

This is how I run Daggerfall on Win98.

Create a new MS-DOS Shortcut.
Right-Click the new shortcut to modify its properties and ensure that Protected and HMA checkboxes are checked on the Memory tab. All other memory settings should be at AUTO.
disable the screen saver, use exclusive mouse, and always suspend background. Install Daggerfall and setup the sound. Always run Daggerfall from the DOS prompt on your desktop, or you might run into problems.

Hmm I never had to do this on 98.
I just install the game and play right away without problems.

Then again, I play old DOS games on a 133MHZ.

You don't have to run it this way, but I've found it to be the most stable on my system. I think I got it off UESP.

So do I. A pentium II 350mhz underclocked to 133mhz, runs Daggerfall great ;)

Would it not work on Xp if you set the game compatibility setting to 98?

Daggerfall is a DOS game and not a Windows game, so setting the game compability to Win 98 won't do a thing.

Bugger....

What about Redguard? I presume it is a DOS game as well?

Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, and Redguard are all DOS games. Bethesda skipped the Win9x generation (unless you count Morrowind's compatibility)...
