will dead bodies float in the water

Post » Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:32 pm

I KNOW in Morrowind the carcasses just sink and stay put, I don't remember what happened in Oblivion, but i think it was still unrealistic.

This is a small desire of mine, but what do you guys think? is it gonna be like this in Skyrim?

EDIT: okay i learned oblivion had floating bodies, but they didn't move with currents as there weren't very many currents to move with.
So what i really care about is whether they move with the currents.

Pretty sure they floated in OB, don't really recall any rapids or fast moving water for them to float down though aside from waterfalls.

I think this would be a good idea to add a touch of realism. I voted yes! :)

As long as I don't see like say an orc cover in head to toe in big HEAVY plate armor with a massive claymore on his back floating in the middle of a lake

Bodies Floated in Oblivion...
But yea, it should return, and I think current should affect bodies.

Pretty sure no one knows. Since the trailer is the only gameplay we've seen and there's no bodies in the water...

I share this desire. I was a massive fan of slaughtering bandits/marauders and dumping the bodies in the water after looting what I wanted, it annoyed me that u would have 3-4 bodies just lying there... Was rather annoying.

I'm pretty confident that bodies will float with the current seeing as how the water will affect your character by sweeping you away in the current and what not. I don't see why bodies wouldn't be affected.

If the water supposedly flows downriver in Skyrim, it would look very wierd if the bodies just floated there, not going with the current. That would kill immersion.

Except I dont think there was any current anywhere in Morrowind or Oblivion. I havent really seen current in any games actually... and it has certainly never affected bodies. it would be nice though I suppose.

well it seems we TES fans are rather demented... We want our dead bodies to act like dead bodies should.

i say that it depends on the weight you are carrying with you along with your default body weight. anything say, less then 500 you float, more you sink. default is 300.

Bodies floated in OB, but only the torso. The arms and legs would sink down and look really stupid.

good point. if this were the case though i wonder if the same kind of thing would apply when you are swimming.

It'd be cool if you could just float (alive) down stream with only the current pulling you.

I scoff at this idea.

And yes I want bodies to wash downstream, bumping against rocks to eventually wash up and be mudcrab food.

Demented from your point of view. What makes your perspective on demented a valid one?

I want my bodies to burn and rot realistically. Also cause the dead bodies to spasm when I shoot a lightening spell into them just for laughs.

I think he was just joking around, no need to get riled up. He wasn't trying to say this thread needed to be taken down or anything crazy like that.
