Will DLC likely extend the map Westward?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:04 pm

While I'm a tad disappointed reading online about the leak of someone allegedly running across the map in 11 minutes, I'm consoled by the thought that it might get bigger and open up in the West with new content later on. I don't know if the real Boston has interesting locales East of the game map, but I'd like to hear if this could be a likelihood.

Personally I'm quite down about the rumors it's nowhere as big as Skyrim. Can anyone offer tangible reassurance that these rumours aren't true?

Thanks.

Westward? Where would you go?

Ohhhhhh Canada.

Don't put too much faith in these leaks at this point. The pictures are shoddy without context. Unless you see a video of someone running a considerable distance, then showing that distance on the map, then showing the map size, we don't really know.

Most of the time, leaks are either fake or misleading. Why? Three words...

A. You can run across Skyrim's map in 11-12 minutes if you noclip through the mountains

B. Bethesda doesn't normally do map extention DLC, they just add new areas like The Pitt and Point Lookout

They slightly did expand it with Dawnguard though. I would personally like to see them expand the map if they can, would be a great addition to the game and world but I don't hold my breath for it.

Well opening up some more coastal area's on the East coast would be fine by me. Maybe swing around that peninsula to the Provincetown area.

Sort of, but Fort Danwguard and the Forgotten Vale were in their own world spaces that you reached via caves.

I think you could reach the area where Castle Volkihar is, before you get the DLC, there was just nothing there.

DarkSunTheFirst: "Westward? Where would you go?"

Well, that just seems to be where there might be more land. I don't mind, just a nice, new, big swathe of wasteland to roll around in would be nice.

I'm sure the game could send good or bad things to follow where the map opens up.

Huh? The entire state of Massachusetts is westward. The entire USA is westward. Where couldn't you go?

Wouldn't be concerned, it was intermittent sprinting.

It's plenty big enough and I have no doubt that 'about the same as Skyrim' is an honest assessment.

Mad Max's wasteland is much bigger but most of it is sand.

Well, Westward is getting into the mountains that get cold. Probably be sparsely populated in the post-apocalyptic world. If you go southwest, you start running into Pitt territory. Depending on how they play the canon, that is either a good thing or a bad thing. I'm assuming New York will one day get a whole game dedicated to it, so...

Edit: errr, slightly misunderstood the topic. Yeah, new zones.

The fallout 4 map is essentially the same size as the skyrim map.

In skyrim there were mountains that blocked your path so you couldn't just run straight through non-stop. You either had to go around them which added more time or you could climb over them which again added more time to the overall travel.

It gave you the illusion that the map was larger than what it actually was. I can guarantee that if the mountains in skyrim were flattened it would take near the amount of time that the guy ran across the fallout 4 map. I also believe there could be some stuff in the ocean, that's literally too big of an ocean for a game.

I'd rather have new areas with new art styles. Doesn't make tons of sense to just open up a new area westward and all the sudden new enemies?

I'd love to see Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket as idealistic communities not terribly hit by nuclear fire but housing some really awful secrets (maybe mass cannibals, a la Andale from FO3). Or, perhaps highly xenophobic religious fanatics that worship Lovecraftian deities.

All the Dlc's will take place in space.

Dlc 1 you'll have to construct a rocket ship to get to the moon. It'll play a lot like Kerbal Space Program.

Dlc 2 you get to the moon and construct a moon base.. Sentient Alien zombie deathclaw's will be your only allies in the fight against the nebulous moon men.

Dlc 3 will be your arduous journey to mars where you'll meet the greens and the greys. You'll choose a faction and then help them annihilate the other..

Dlc 4 will be all about your journey into the great unknown. Using the technology given to you by whichever faction you helped on Mars, you'll make your way to the center of the universe. Everything we've seen about No Man's Sky is actually this 4th Dlc.

We had a discussion like this two months ago or so.

There was debate that maybe it will be like the other DLC like the PITT.

I'm hoping that we fight our way to get to the new locations instead of transport like Broken Steel or The Pitt.

I don't care if it takes me 30 minute to get out a subterranean to reach the new destination, obviusly we be fight to get there.

Also maybe add a random encounter when you teleported to the new locations if can't go in foot or other means beside fast travel.

I quite like this idea. A bit of sea travel/exploration, maybe even a bit of piracy :D

I would think we might get a DLC that expands into Connecticut similar to The Pitt DLC.

West and North are about it for Boston. You could go South for a ways, but once you get to Fairhaven the terrain gets quite similar to traveling East from Bostong, a tad soggy.

Southward would be better... Barnstable, Newport (I want a Newport DLC so much!), Marta's Vineyard... So... and what's west of Boston and interesting?
