Will DX10/11 be added?

Post » Sat Dec 26, 2009 4:38 pm

I would like at least some official feedback as to weather the game will support Direct X10/11 in the future. The D9 looks great and almost fooled me into thinking it was D10/11 but if it is only going to support D9 I think this game may just end up on my bookshelf or the recycle bin.

People complain too much about PC games, they should stop making games for the PC and let you console gamers stick with the console.
So much hate on the PC plathform.

This is so stupid what you are saying. DX10 looks exactly the same as DX9 and it works 30-40% slower. DX11 is better thanks to the tessellation, but Crysis 2 on DX9 looks better than any other game on DX11, DX1235412, or whatever. All I give a damn about is ability to choose DX9 on Windows 7 (thats because I don't have full DX11 support).

What PC games? There are none left because plague of the consoles ruining gaming forever... Crysis 2 = console game, CoD = console game, BC2 = console game. PC gaming has been lost for a while now... everyone just wants there camping and press one button for instant kills. I would also bet you are posting on a mac... just saying. Go play your pathetic console and leave the real gamers alone.

You idiots who think c2 looks 'better than anything' obviously never played the first one. Look at the trees in C1, then shoot one, see how it actually reacts and can break? Then shoot a tree in c2. see how it sways? but the bullet 'sticker' doesn't move with the tree? Kinda just glides around....c2 is a HUGE step back in graphics compared to cryteks 4 yr old game

hahaha, greater shadows. Thats rich. My advice to you: Eat lots and lots of carrots. Why? It improves your vision. So hopefully you too can take part in the glorious world of direct x 11 :)

Fact is Dx11 makes better details cost less performance :) thats the jist of it. Please do correct me if I'm wrong but you better have your freakin facts straight if you do :)

wargasm, dx11 is indeed far more efficient than dx9. However, as always, adding on taxing effects brings the performance down :)

For example, in dirt 2, dx11 runs about 70% the speed of dx9, but runs a level of filtering which would cause dx9 to run at around 5fps.

dx9 in dirt 2 looks blurry, like lower res whereas dx11 makes the game A LOT sharper, it turns off that **** blur.

Pff Noobs!

Dx 10 added a lot of volumetric effects that Dx9 didnt support!

Thats why the smoke in games like World in conflict is 10X times better than in crysis 2!
And Dx10 isnt slower than Dx9! Volumetric effects just need more power than flat bitmaps!

People that are constantly asking about DirectX 11 need to do some research on its features first, think about it and then go back to enjoying this awesome game.

DX 11 has only one feature which has any impact on quality and another which might have an indirect impact. The first one is tessellation which can be great if you want a close up of a characters face or something similar but most of the time it will be used to "improve" low poly objects in the scene like a bucket...which you wont probably even look at. The rest of the time it will just be reducing your performance with little to no impact on the visuals.

The only other feature in DX 11 is improved support for multi-threading which probably does not provide a significant enough increase in performance because the game is optimised enough to be played on consoles.

Shader Model 5.0 provides some features to make a game programmers life a bit more easy but does nothing for the gamer.

So the end game here is while they can add DX 11 support and maybe provide a marginal performance boost it wont do anything for the looks unless we get some other candy in the patch as well.

Now load up Crysis 2 and enjoy it :)

I don't think anyone is complaining that it isn't actually running dx11. I think people are complaining that it isn't running dx11 WELL. If it was running dx11 and looked like the same, I'd still have my same annoyances. The point is they said they were going to build this game from the ground up and " continue to push PC's to their limits". They didn't do that. I understand the differences between the dx versions well. They COULD have done a very nice job and used some awesome dx11 features. but they didn't. Hell, they COULD have made it look as GOOD as crysis 1 using dx9. But they didn't do that either. It has no real 'physics' to speak of. The textures are far lower, the vegitation is a joke in comparison. People have just lumped ALL of this in the magic dx11 patch, which in my opinion, isn't ever coming.

Not true, on top of tesselation Dx11 actually gets better performance than DX9/10.
