Will Elder Scrolls Ever Have a MP Component?

Post » Sat Oct 08, 2011 6:08 pm

For the uninformed, Dark Souls offers a great new on-line aspect of “factions” in Multi-Player.
I know it’s not coming this year, but can you foresee “Factions” on a grand scale of The Elder Scrolls in the future?
I think this would be a great direction to take this franchise.
Opinions?

In the future? Maybe as a spin off game. Not in the Elder Scrolls 6 or 7. But a spinoff game, probably.

There is a multiplayer mod for Oblivion. I haven't tried it but I hear it's pretty buggy.

I am happy and comfortable in TES having no multiplayer, and I'm sure other TES feel like me. TES proves that not every game needs to have MP to be a great game.

Agreed.

The TES franchise does not need multi-player.

It would ruin... I can't even think about it.

Yes. I see you have all those great stars. But why wouldn't you want to join with similar players and destroy your foes?
It's an RPG afterall.

I feel that it would not be a great direction for the series moving forward, or even a decent one at all.

Battlespire had some sort of multiplayer component, I think. It was LAN, whatever that means (I'm not big on the lingo).

If, for some reason, there ever is an MMORPG set on Nirn, I would imagine it to be another spin-off title like Redguard or Battlespire. I'd be fine with that particular happening so long as it doesn't affect the main.

But I hope the main series, "The Elder Scrolls" namesake, never goes multiplayer. It was cheapen the experience far too much. And The Elder Scrolls is something to truly treasure.

Not everything needs multiplayer. The sooner people realize this, the better. TES is really the last true iconic massive single player game. Let it be. There's plenty of other multiplayer offerings. Leave TES in peace please.

'eh. I'd use the feature with my friend if it had it. But I want a good single player game. If I want to play with other people I'll stick in a fighter or a shooter over an RPG.

let me answer that for him. TES is about a strong single-player experience. Sure it could be fun, but that is not what TES is about. Besides there are like, 100 different MP just like that. No sense in makin TEs a genric Mp is there?

NO! And WHY must one of these "herp TES should have co-op/multiplayer derp" threads come up every week? The answer is always a unified "no" and it has been confirmed not to be in. There is also already a multiplayer thread in general discussion, THAT is where you should talk about it, not here.

The one thing that really draws me back to bethesda rpgs is the fact that there's just so much content. Morrowind was a good example of this, and oblivion had a fair amount of stuff too. Just the number of things they can pack into the game, the number of items, armor/weapons, npcs, dungeons, etc. If they decide to implement multiplayer, that takes away from the time that they can focus on adding content. I don't want that.
